Triangle Madness

...just may be the name of this quilt when...or if it ever gets..finished. I've been working on piecing this whenever I've been home, and trying to keep myself sane, during the past few months. It is from the Orca Bay mystery quilt that Bonnie Hunter from Quiltville.com website ran back in December. For some reason I though that I'd do this as a leader & ender project...but really got into sewing all these little bitty blocks in the past few months. I know that I have lots of other UFO tops that I should be working on ...but just can't seem to make myself stop working on this one...

So thought I'd take some pics of my progress so far to share. And you'll note that it's a long way from finished...

Ohio star blocks - and QSTs ready to be sewn into more OH star blocks...These are 6.5" unfinished.


Wing Units - On the left, lots of HSTs ready to be sewn, some HSTs sewn together and some triangles to be sewn into wing units. On the right are some finished wing units!


String blocks - Green & purple string blocks all completed using up scraps. Bottom has one green triangle with wing units sewn on. Lots more to do...

that looks like the one that the ladies at the Edmonton Guild did, i saw a few of them in January and WOW is all i can say, they were all amazing. One lady was working on hers there and we saw ALL the 1/2 squares etc HOLY SMOKES can't wait to see yours too

I should have posted the link to the mystery instructions so you can see her finished quilt. She used reds & blues with blacks & whites. I'm using green's and purples with blacks & whites. Bonnie's gonna be taking the instructions off sometime in the near future as she's going to be including them in a book that she's writing.

That just blows me away, Judy! So wonderful that you're enjoying it so much. I suppose it could go either way as in, "OMG, what in the hell did I get myself into????!!!"

I'm with Lennie on that one, it's going to be GorGeous! But it's so many little pieces!!!! I have a bunch of triangle scraps from a quilt I am making that I was thinking of making into half square triangles and using them in a small quilt, but every time I look at the bag of triangles I move it aside

It looks tedious and will be great when finished. I like the combination of designs. I grew up in an area of the country and an era where there was a great emphasis on space exploration and the mistle industry and your quilt reminds me a lot of outerspace.

Yep...right now it's "OMG I can't wait to get this finished" and I'm afraid to stop as I may change to ...what the hell????

I've gotten out an old UFO BOM (block of the month) that was using lots of whites and creams. I want to get that top finished so that I can see if there are any leftover W & Cs that I can use in this quilt. But there's a lot of work to be done finishing that one....and I'm afraid that once I stop working on this one I won't get back to it...

Yikes! Madness is the right word The finished quilt will be lovely. I am working on a wall hanging for baby Zoey, due June 28th in StLouis. Such fun to be using pink fabrics after 4 DGSs. Take care.
