January Quilting

Well no pics yet...but I really got come quilting MOJO yesterday...and quilted a VQC UFO that I've had since Sept. It's the B&W one that Laura referred to in the thread about modern quilt pattern. I think the fact that our Jan meeting is next Monday had something to do with me getting my mojo though ;) ! I kept putting it off as I couldn't decide what to do to quilt it. Well I finally decided that it was better to just get it done and decided to do a simple large meander.

But I had some borders too and didn't want to do meandering over the borders, so I decided to practice the leaf pattern that is January''s FMQ tutorial on SewCalGal's FMQ Challenge (http://sewcalgal.blogspot.com/2012/01/welcome-to-2012-free-motion-quilting.html)

OK...while writing this I decided to go take a pic of the leaves I did in the borders....kinda like a vine. I didn't practice these as I learned these as an ivy pattern when I first started FMQ but haven't really done them in a long time. This just got me thinking and trying them again. I'll post a pic of the entire quilt once it is totally finished with binding.

I like that they look like hearts. In the larger scheme I'm sure they'll resemble ivy. Very nice.

Guess they resemble an Aussie plant. There's a pic of leaves looking like hearts down a ways on this blog

Very nicely done. I'm either a straight line or meander person. Someday I'll broaden my scope.

Makes me want to get sewing again! Looks good Judy! I like doing the meandering wandering thing with little things thrown in, it seems to be very relaxing and theraputic if you can let your brain just go and just doodle on the quilt.

And I had another VQC quilt to quilt. I did not piece this one, just quilted it. Echo quilted around the embroidery in the square. Came up with a heart type design for the sashings and then tellestrating hearts around the borders.

Your FMQ looks professional, nice job! If one didn't know, one would think the quilting was done on a longarm machine. :applause:

The ivy leaf is very effective - I want to try that.
