I have that cabinet! I bought it in 1976 with my brand new Athena 2000, which I still own and love. It's designed for the Athena 2000, but probably accommodates other machine heads as well.

I bought it from the Singer dealer, but don't know if it was a Singer product or manufactured by someone else.

Yes, it's for a Singer 778 Touch and Sew II. Are you selling it?

I know this is an old thread but I had to register and reply in case anyone is still interested. My mom had a cabinet exactly like this one and she bought it new for her Singer machine back in the mid to late 1980's, I believe, in Manitoba Canada. She passed the machine to me (I still use it!) when she upgraded so can get the make and model for anyone who is interested. Note that I am not sure if the cabinet was specifically designed for that particular machine or not. Mom kept the cabinet for her new machine and she used it up until her passing three years ago. It's still in the family and in great condition and is indeed a super little sewing machine cabinet :D

This is definitely the cabinet for the Singer Athena 2000. My mother bought one brand new in 1976, and the machine and cabinet were purchased together. When she passed away last April, I found the manuals, original paperwork and brochures with the machine (I kept the machine and cabinet). It's a great cabinet - Singer designed it specially for the Athena 2000, which was their top of the line machine in 1976 and their first electronic model. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to re-mount the machine onto the top. The machine is as good as new and after having it cleaned, I'm ready to use it if I can just figure out the mounting.... I'm sure other machines will mount on it as well. The beauty of this cabinet was the ability to store all of your basic supplies in it and close it up. Once it's closed and the machine is dropped down into the cabinet, it looks like a sideboard. Pretty nifty idea! Enjoy! - Cathy

Great info, Cathy! I hope you get the machine mounted into the cabinet -- enjoy once you have everything up and running :)

Hi Cathy, did you ever get your machine mounted to the cabinet? I have the same cabinet. The Athena 2000 that came with it was a gonner so I mounted my Kenmore 158.19142 in it. I had to drill a new hole along the back to line up, but it fits pretty well. I love this cabinet because it holds so much and closes up so pretty!

If you need the "hook" for mounting your machine, let me know because I still have it and can't use it on my Kenmore.

Hi. Know that cabinet well. It is sitting in my living room right now. Was given to me by a friend. It came from a Singer dealer and had a Singer Athena 2000 in it. I set the machine to my niece and kept the cabinet.

I got the exact cabinet from my mother. I took the machine out to move it and can't remember how to put back in cabinet. Help would be appreciated.
