Well, I started this bag on Tuesday...but didn't get it finished until today. It's for my niece's baby shower next week. She is the niece who I taught to quilt and is due in Nov.
She told me that she wanted a bag "exactly the same...the same colour, the same type...the same same..." as the one I made for her sister back in 2009. Here's the post which show's her sister's bag http://talk.sew-whats-up.com/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=3099&st=0&sk=t&sd=d&hilit=diaper+bag&start=10#p47555
This bag is not "exactly" the same but it should do. I still had some of the fabric in my stash...but not enough of the green stripe to make the handle.
I haven't counted how many of these bags I've made so far...but I I know I will never again attempt to use some fusible poly batting that has been sitting in my cupboard for a few years. After I started quilting the first piece...the thread would keep breaking and breaking. I finally gave up after quilting half the piece. Then I spent 2 hours ripping out the quilting since I didn't have any spare fabric to make a replacement piece. After I switched to regular batting...it quilted like a dream. The only thing I would change is the thread I used to sew on the handles...I wish I'd used the variegated thread instead of the matching thread. Oh well...next time.
This is what it looked like around 3:30 today with the seams finished and binding added to the top edges of all the quilted pieces.
