Paula, Sunday I became apalled at my current physique and started on a high protein low carb diet. I already feel better than I have for a while. No dizzy spells. I started on a Beta blocker for my heart a few months ago and that helped a lot but now I think I just might get back soem energy. I have had some spells that felt like low blood sugar but they weren't ( I used DH"S meter to check the sugar level and sometimes it would be a little low but not every time. That is what clued me in to the heart problem that didn't show on the stress test, ekg or listening to the heart. It did show on th echocardiogram(heart ultrasound). It is diastolic dysfunction. My family physician says I am not diabetic so that is good.
Anyway back to the high protein diet. I will alternate that with a 1200 calorie diet. A week of one and a week of the other till I get the weight down. I preffer a vegitarian diet but cant handle the lower protein, higher carb level that I end up in. I know it doesn't have to work that way but I don't seem to be able how to grasp that sort of diet.
I did want to say that I use a high protein whey powder sweetened with stevia. It us by "Naturally Preferred" . I put it in my coffee instead of powdered creamer or half and half I have also mixed it into a glass of crystal lite for a quick pick me up. I also am taking the edge off my appetite with a teaspoon of peanutbutter when I get hungry other than meal time ( not to many teaspoons though, it is fatening). I avoid items altered to have lower fat values because the carbs are usually increased to make up for the fat flavor.
Keep us posted. I wish you success in this endeavor.
Oh, I do endulge in a low carb Hershies chocolate and a low carb Carb Count Icream bar (chocolate coated). Keeps me on y diet trail.
I cook chicken breast seasoned with ranch dressing mix and eggs for breakfast 9scrambled and nuked with my favorite seasonings and
bacon.
I'll just die if I don't have some of the old comfort food flavors.
