I have mentioned my skirt designed using Wildginger software.
well., its finished sort of. I put it on today and the hem hangs lower in the front than in the back. I am so aggravated. At least the zipper lays flat. And it looks pretty good off.

grrrrr, maybe someone will be able to give you a fix. Many of my things don't have hanger appeal so maybe that is a plus!

I have the skirt hanging on a hanger to let the bias hang as it should. The hem is more even than it was. I think part of the problem is my ample dimensions and I didn't remeasure before creating my pattern. Laziness isn't a good trait to have when sewing. Another problem is my posture. I sort of lean forward at the ankles as if to hastily move forward.

Duct tape between the shoulders

Duct tape is good for a lot of things. Suppose it would round out my flat wide rear if I pull it tight enough from the correct dirrection? I suspect the shoulders do slump some. My job keeps me reaching upward a lot and outward pulling toward me so the shoulder posture isn't the problem ( at least I don't think so). I will take a photo of the skirt on the hanger and on me soon and get some analysis from you ladies. I steamed the skirt hanging on the hanger and I think I have some design flaws that I didn't fix before printing the pattern. Also after steaming (with the skirt hanging on the hanger) I could see how the skirt doesn't even hang correctly at the center back seam and the drape of the front of the skirt is different then the drape at the back of the skirt. A truely learning experience. Now to try again without cutting on the bias. My friend will be back in town expecting her skirt an I havn't even started it.

I think I am going to take the waistband off again and let out the rest of the seams that have the wider seam allowances and concentrate most of increased ease at the sides of the hips giving some to the back and front but I should give it about an inch and a half and it should fit a little more pleasingly across the rear. The waist band is what it is, unless I make it about 1/2 inch wide. It was at first about a 1/2 inch to big so I made it shorter in length and it is trimmed so I do not think I can get enough out of the underlap to make the wasteband longer by 1 inch, or could I??? I do have some small scraps left. Darn. darn, DARN, I wish I had remeasured myself before I designed my pattern to my smaller measurements. I love the fabric and color so I think I willllllll try again!! But I have to make my friends skirt first. I know her measurements are current so I will go with them. I have also learned more about drafting the skirt pattern since I drafted mine.

I decided to wear the skirt Sunday anyway and it looked nice. I will still rework part of it but it is wearable and a good learning tool.
