It is nearly finished - just the binding to go and maybe a little more texture on some places. It has been a real learning curve and I love the way my character comes out in places. It is not very accurate but I am from the naive school of free motion quilting. Photos when done I promise , but I am away this weekend. I hope to be done tomorrow!!!!!!!

Here you can see how I have treated the borders, plain white has a wavy line texture then a dotty strip and the next plain white is large pebbles. After that is a scrappy border, quilted the same way as on the central hourglasses depending on the fabric. There is one more white border and the binding . I am going to bind it tomorrow with a scrappy border and maybe that last border will then decide if it needs quilting or not.

I have a few scraps of the fabric left over from the scrappy binding that I am going to use to embellish a couple of pillow shams. Making coffee now and hitting the machine.

I am enjoying this journey! What a beautiful quilt this will be when it is done. I love the varied textures your quilting is giving it. I have never tried pebbles but you sure have it down pat.

Lovely work Jan :D

The quilting reminds me very much of a 'Durham' quilt. These are my favourite but I don't have the patience(or inclination) to do one  I have done paper pieced quilts in the past but only cot sized.

Thanks Jill, I had not heard of Durham quilts before but it had reminded me of a wholecloth quilt too. I don't think I have the patience to do one of those by hand!
