A crochet question.

I know how to crochet but I don't do much and I'm not very accomplished so a question. My neighbor is moving in a couple of months. I've enjoyed having her as a neighbor and I'd like to give her a going away gift. She crochets a lot. Not terribly fancy but she really enjoys it. She has a couple of grandkids and she's my age. Any suggestions as to what to get her? I bet she has the basics but is there something special she might not buy for herself? She doesn't have a lot of money.

Feel like making her a really nice crochet hook holder? Like a knitting needle case but smaller. Since she's a crafty person, I bet she'd really like something you made.

I saw instructions for a hook pouch a while back . It folded in thirds and closed with a buttonhole and button. The nice part of it was when opened out the tubes were not only stitched for about 4 inches but there was also a flap at the top also with the stitching, which kept the hooks from slipping out of the tubes since the top part was not left with the hook hanging out.. I hope this is clear to you. It took me just a little while to make . with 2 rectangles also a piece of batting, binding for edge, and a button..

Hmmmm, I do like that idea. I'm wondering if she might have one already. She does sew too. I like the idea of a flap over the top. I've made both a crochet hook holder and knitting needle holder without a flap and yes, the needles do fall out.

I agree, a handmade crochet hook holder would make a great gift, even if she already has something like that. Handmade ones are much nicer. Or how about a tote bag to hold her projects?
When I read your post I thought about DH's aunt who loves to crochet. When we went to her 90th birthday party, the gift she acted the most excited about was a bag of yarn.

I was also thinking about a good supply of yarn. Or maybe some wooden hooks. I love my bamboo knitting needles. But I just don't know what she has.

A tote bag would be nice cause she could use it for projects or for other stuff too. I have a really cute pattern for one that uses 5" squares, actually you can use whatever size squares you want, it just comes out bigger or smaller.

Oh, I like that idea. May I have the pattern please? I can make it from stash and put a few skeins of yarn in it. She's a hippy chick, you know, Grateful Dead, tie dyes, etc. She'd like a bag like that.

It would be really pretty with batik fabrics Lennie. Ohhhhh.... or vintage sheets from the thrift store.
