What am I looking for? Types of mesh fabric

I'm not sure what it's called but it's the mesh fabric that football jerseys are made of you, you know, the little tiny holes everywhere?

I found this at http://www.joann.com/power-mesh-many-colors/zprd_10655256a/ but it reminds me of what "tummy control" panels are made of. Other than that, they have utility camo mesh (prob. for like mosquito netting/face covers or hunting blinds?) and decorative sheer stuff.

WalMart has pool floats that are spring loaded, you only air up the outer edges/pillow and the center is this mesh fabric, they are nearly $20 and much nicer than just vinyl ones as you sink into the water when you lay in the center but the rim holds you up. Every one we've had, has a small leak so they don't stay aired up day to day and since the air chambers are inside nylon fabric, you can't patch them.

I think I can make them and instead of air chambers, use channels for those jumbo pool noodles which are quite bouyant and slide them in to make a ring around the fabric. Foam pipe insulation would also work and may be a cheaper alternative to the pool noodles. Depending on cost of fabric, I just might try it. I also thought about shower curtain material but it would not let you sink down in the center.

Kathy, if you are talking about that almost sheer fabric with the holes, I have some in black and white (2 pieces) . I have no idea where I bought it. Years ago. it is 60 inches wide, and I use it for sleeves in some of my tees when I run out of fabric. Also made DGS tank tops and bathing suit inserts with it when he was a teen. I have no idea the name of the fabric, but I know it was really inexpensive or on sale when I bought it. I see it once in a while now, so it had to be either Wal-Mart or Hancocks. only 2 fabric stores I have ready access to.

Its not sheer but solid with pin holes about the size of a toothpick. I never knew there were so many kinds (visited the website) so now I'm still not sure. Hancocks has quite of bit of mesh fabric but still not want I want. I tried to call them, got answering machine.

I think I've seen it at Joann Fabrics but not sure. I just hate the drive all the way there. Maybe I can con the kids into going for me tonight or tomorrow. I have some really loose mesh and alot of tulle/netting but neither will work for a pool float.

Mine is not sheer, but it is very lightweight. the holes are more the size of a silk pin. (the ones with round heads)

I've seen/heard it called Jersey Mesh or Athletic Mesh. If you Google Jersey Mesh you get lots of people selling it on ebay/etsy.

Have dealt with Seattle Fabrics a few times and find them great to deal with. Prices are pretty good too.

Found several on that site that will work. Plus as a bonus, they also have the stuff needed if I ever get around to making Joe a new riding jacket. He has some awesome USMC denier fabric with the embedded USMC emblem that he wants a jacket from but we've never found a pattern he likes (looked off and on but not seriously). He'd have to help with that and he works too many hours anyway.

Thanks all,

Kathy
