Quilting retreats?

New postby Mom of Six on Fri Apr 27, 2012 4:43 pm

Does anyone know where to find out about sewing/ Quilting retreats. My Sister has been on a couple of Quilting cruises but she said she misses so much of the actual cruise time she would rather go on a quilting retreat. something at a hotel or resort. I told her if they are out there you ladies would know about them. I think she would like a week long one but weekend ones would probably be fine too.

My sister said she learned a lot & the first one was fun but you spend all day in one room & don't get to do Cruise things. She likes the sun/pool & she & her DH get in contests & things. I would never go because I don't like being anywhere that I can't control when I want off. She just wondered if there were any retreats around.

I know some of the quilt shops in the Omaha area have hosted retreats. I get e-mails about them every so often. Also Accuquilt hosts one

I think pretty much every quilt guild will have a retreat once a year, so if she checks with her local quilt guilds she should find a whole pile of ones to attend. We just had a one day one, that I had to miss  . After Judy's quilt cruise experience, I think I'd really have to think hard about doing a quilting cruise. But I'd sure do a weekend quilt retreat again, I think a week would be too long for me, unless they had massages and yoga classes as well, to keep you from getting too stiff.
