Ya know, there isn't a single picture in this thread !
Come on, show us some pictures, Please!

I'm working on the binding for my quilt. The teacher had me use my walking foot to attach the one side, and my seam looks like I had been drinking huge amounts of alcohol while sewing! But I'm not ripping it out, and although she encouraged us to hand sew the binding, I'm going to use my machine! Can't wait till it is done, so I can say that I did it!

I'll post pics after Christmas. I don't think either person would see them but both quilts will be a huge surprise so I don't want to take a chance.

Sheila, anyone receiving one of your beautiful creations must be very special indeed.
Is it okay to give your 'teacher' a sample block for a thank you gift? I have finished a table runner using Jan's YouTube tutorial. I have discovered some embroidery stitches on my Janome which I used to quilt the runner. Very pleased with my efforts, would like to make a single 'trivet' block for my pal that introduced me to quilting. Thanks, take care.

NanaBear, I just need to stitch the binding down. I'm going to machine stitch it using a decorative stitch that I used for the quilting. No way am I going to hand stitch it. In fact, the lady who taught the class always machine stitches hers, but she encouraged us to hand stitch it so we would know how it is done. I still haven't unpacked my machine for last week's class .

Well I saw this fabric ornament tutorial from the same lady that did Jan's YouTube tutorial. Thinking of making a few for relatives...if I find the time of course.

Hi Judy,

Many moons ago, a friend taught me how to make 'corn husk dolls'. To say thank you, I made her one and dressed it an outfit that could be found in Nova Scotia in the 1800's as that is her home province. She wasn't at all pleased, said I was just trying to show her up etc. Needless to say after taking the highly offensive gift back, I have never given a fellow sewer or crafter of gift of sewing, craft etc. So I am wondering if quilters are that sensitive Enjoy the weekend, take care.

NanaBear, what you encountered was an incredibly rude, insensitive, and insecure person! How horrible! I absolutely love to give and receive sewing/crafting gifts, and although my work isn't as good as others, I still enjoy it, and others enjoy receiving them. In fact, I've seen a lot of my past gifts being used recently.

I do hope that you will reconsider, and feel free to bless others with your incredible work!

I personally would love for someone to make a quilt for me! I think if you sew or craft then you appreciate the gift even more because you know the time it takes to make the gift. So if any wants to make me a quilt I'll be glad to take it and use it LOL!

I'm with Sheila! I'd love to receive a hand crafted gift. We know how much work is put into a hand made gift and I'd love one. (Not that other gifts aren't well thought out and effort put into finding the right thing, but I love hand made things)
