I got out of bed and made chili today! That was a huge feat, really!! I finally drank a cup of coffee today too, and it stayed down. I think I am on the mend. DD took DGD to her kindergarten orientation today, can't believe she is old enough for Kindergarten. Tomorrow is going to be another sick day and I hope to make some shopping bags for DS's GF and cut out DH's shop coat. That'll be it for me for the day I imagine. I watched 'Precious' by myself on Sat night, as DH wouldn't watch it. Has anyone else seen it?? It was painful and difficult to watch, but the acting I thought was absolutely excellent. I can see why they got so many nominations for Oscars.

Glad you are feeling better.
I (surprise) unpacked more today. All that is left is my sewing room. I'll see what I can do in there but my daughter is coming tomorrow to help and the big stuff can wait for her. It is really a question of how much little stuff I can do before moving the heavy furniture.
Yesterday I dropped a box on my toe and gimped around for a while but it feels better today. And the day before I hurt my shoulder a bit but is seems a lot better.
Almost there though and the Blackhawks are up two games so all is right with the world!!

Don't ya just hate getting more mature??? (I didn't want to say older as I refuse to get any older - course I don't want to mature either, I like being a kid.)

Why is it that when one thing in the house goes, more seem to follow? The downspouts leaked and the water landed in the basement. It went to the carpet under the shelves with all the stored toys I was saving for future grandchildren. Now there is the beginning of a mold problem. The yard was re-graded and new pipes were attached to downspouts to eliminate the leaks. With 3 weeks left in school, that is the top priority project for summer break.

Last week there was a puddle next to the washing machine when I went to do laundry. DH and 2 friends replaced the water heater on Saturday (incorrectly - but they're fixing it this Saturday). Wow! I didn't realize water heaters were so expensive!

We have had a programable thermostat for 2 years waiting for someone to put it in. One of my quilting friend's husband is an electrician and he came yesterday to install it. Wrong thermostat. DH got the right one and friend came back to install. A/C won't work but heater will. It's 90 degrees outside - I DON"T NEED HEAT!!! The company that services our heater is scheduled to come today between noon and 5 pm for a stinking service call. I just can't stand spending money like this! I'm just glad we got a decent tax return this year.

It's not at my house but the a/c at school has decided to only work in half of the building today....yup - not my half. Luckily the computer lab has air and I can bring my student here for at least one period.

I think I'm going to crawl into a hole for a few weeks so nothing else goes wrong or breaks.
Enjoy the weekend everyone.

It seems like when it rains, it pours. Last fall we had a leak in the roof which turned into a major mold problem for my entry way closet. We fixed the roof but the closet will have to be torn out all the way to the studs & all of the wood replaced. Then the plaster walls, & wood shelves have to be replaced ... & the list grows. It's a never ending thing with home ownership. We do what we can & let the rest of it go. I know that one day, DH will get around to getting things repaired. I not a do-it-yourself type of person & DH is too tired most of the time to do things. I've learned to accept our home's imperfections & live my life the best that I can with limitations. Hope things improve for you soon.

Boy Momquilts sorry things are so tough. It does seem to all happen at once. The air conditioner in our new apartment is down too. They are replacing it Tuesday. It is brand new and under warranty, I guess.
Well, I would wish you could transfer your recent luck to your Fliers.

This morning we went with DGDs for their 3rd annual service project day. We helped out at Ronald McDonald House. Some weeded & picked up trash outside, Some cleaned/ sanitized the toys, We emptied all the bins of pop tabs that people donate into a big bin & we sorted the donated sample shampoos etc into bins There were 9 adults, 3 three YOs,a 1 YO, a 9YO & a 11YO plus a 5 week old that did his part by sleeping through it all. I think they were surprised at the # of people even though DD told them there would be a group of us.
DD decided before the girls 1st BDay that she wanted to start doing a service project every year so the girls would learn to give as well as receive. They always do something kid related.
Tonight we are going to oldest DD's who is having a BDay party for them with their Great aunts & some cousins. Tomorrow they are having a party at their house with all their friends (Mom & Dad's Friends & kids). I think they will get their present from me tonight. Tomorrow is supposed to be a water party if it isn't too cold. Maybe they will be able to use their puppy towels.

This is what I'm doing instead of being on the computer over the weekends.

DGS spent the night with us and we took him to the ocean and walked the boardwalk for several hours before taking him home this afternoon. He had loads of sunscreen on but I didn't - shoulders and chest got a little burned.

Ooooo, that looks so cool and refreshing. It's been hot here yesterday and today. What a great looking family you are.

How much fun is that. Y'all look great in the pool. I picked up another bag of mending to do today at church. It should keep me busy this week.
