DH & I got up around 10am & then after meds, I fixed lunch. We had to take the lawn mower to the John Deere dealer (about 20 miles away) & drop it off to be repaired. The interstate was down to one lane both ways so it was crawl, stop, let big trucks in, etc for almost an hour each way. Very nerve wracking. When we got home around 3:30pm, I took 2 Tylenol & went to sleep for a few hours. Dinner was hit & miss. DH wanted oatmeal with blueberries so I grabbed a hamburger from Backyard Burger with a salad. We went to evening worship & then it was home & to bed. No sewing today.

Today I plan to do some sewing and a lot of reading in the sun. We are expecting 80s again before it cools down to 60s tomorrow. That's still great for around here.

We decided to go out for dinner last night so it will be the ham and cheese soup tonight.

We hit record high yesterday of 27 C (80F). I didn't do anything I planned. Spent most of the afternoon on the computer sending photos to be printed since the company I use has prints for 10 cents each until Apr. 7 and I have 400 to be printed. Only sent 290 yesterday though. :o Did a bit of house cleaning...yep I procrastinated... and never got my machine setup for sewing.

I was up at 6:15 a.m. putting my summer tires in my car and was at Can. Tire before 7:00 to have my winter tires taken off and the summer ones put on. First in line...so was out of there before 7:30. So now have put the tires in the shed and took out all the summer furniture and put it on my deck.

Today I'm meeting a quilting buddy for lunch. We haven't seen each since Nov. So it will probably be a long lunch and a great gab fest. Then probably shopping for the rest of the day.

Record highs in the 80s?
Dallas was on the verge of setting a record--taking the longest time to get to an 80-degree day. I think we hit it one day last week, just a few days shy of the record.
No complaining about 75-degree days though. Our 95-degree days will be here before we know it.

We've only had one or two thunderstorms so far this spring (I got caught out in one Friday. Luckily I was coming home from the gym so the rain felt good).

It has been crazy windy here the past few days. It's like all of West Texas is mad and trying to blow Dallas off the map. We tried to go walking around our favorite urban duck pond Thursday night and could barely move forward when we were walking into the wind. It was really crazy!

Unfortunately I won't get to sew again until tomorrow evening. Woke up at 4:30 this morning and couldn't go back to sleep. I thought about sewing, but it was still dark. I got up and did laundry then, once it got daylight, went to the grocery store. There was hardly anyone there, and I got in and out really quick, but I really would rather have been sewing.

So, what are you doing today?
I am sitting on the couch playing on the laptop while DH and DS watch drag racing from Charlotte NC. I'd love to go there, it's a beautiful track! I keep peeking at the TV, but after a while it gets boring, except for John Force who is hilarious. We watched a movie too, or at least they did while I computer played. Actually at the moment DS is almost asleep on the couch and it's only 10pm on a Sat night! I did sew for most of the day which was nice.

What's for dinner?
I made avgolemono soup from scratch! DS is here for the weekend and I figured homemade soup with warm bagette would be good. Then for dessert we had a large bag of lime tortilla chips and salsa.

Any sewing going on?
The baby wall/floor quilt which I have been working on for a few days now.

What's the weather like?\
Flipping COLD! If it isn't pouring rain, it's hailing and so windy that the hail was going sideways! There was a horrible storm on the Island last night, and we had it last night and today. I'm surprised it hasn't started to snow. My tulips are pretty windblown now, and my daffodils are done with.

It is a holiday for most of you but nothing special here. I want to get the facing in my shirt and I think there is a hockey game on this afternoon so maybe I will watch that. My husband is working so the Christians can have the day off.

For dinner I am going to make Pastitsio. I have never made it before but I love it so I hope this recipe is good.

The weather is supposed to be cooler today -- in the 60s. Still it is more than 10 degrees higher than average.

Up early this morning for church which will take up the rest of the morning. I had better get dressed as I have to be there in less than 45 minutes. Afterwards, it's baking the ham & doing laundry since I didn't do any yesterday. Dinner will be ham, mashed potatoes & broccoli. No desserts. I'll probably get in a nap while DH walks a mile around the neighborhood. DD will be studying for her psych exam on Monday. Just a quiet typical Sunday at home.

Okay, pastitsio and avgolemono??? Haven't a clue. Greek and huh? I'll look them up.

We haven't done Easter around here since the Easter bunny stopped coming (actually I gave my "kids" baskets till they were in their early 20's ;) ) but dh's family does so we're headed about an hour and twenty from here to the coast around 11. I really, really don't want to go but I will because dh is so good to me. Awwwww. Going will also eliminate the need for a big meal tonight. We'll just snack I'm sure; crackers and cheese or whatever. I'm afraid it's a no-sew day but I don't have much going on this coming week so there will be plenty of time for that. The weather is perfect but cool. Let's see, 42 degrees, 72% humidity (because of the storm we just had), bright and sunny. Should warm up a good 10 degrees here today. At the beach it's bound to be either 10 degrees below 70 or ten degrees above 70. So boring. I hated that!

Okay, now it sounds familiar. Avgolenomo: "The combination of chicken and lemon make this the perfect "common cold" soup, and the egg yolks make it velvety smooth. Warning - this soup must be served hot off the stove. It does not travel well and it does not make good leftovers!..."

And Pastitsio: "A traditional Greek dish made of pasta, beef, cinnamon, tomatoes, and a white sauce."

Hmm, got some adventurous cooks. I'm in a rut again. Need to spend more time coming up with interesting things to eat.

Roast chicken, parsnips, roast tatties, carrots, sweetcorn mushroom and gravey. Ice cream.. I am full - we have MIL staying with us and her son and his two sons came over - it is a rerun tomorrow when our daughters and their menfolk come over. Good times. I am stuffed.

Church today - good times

Finishing knitting a baby jumper - then a shawl then some more t-shirting should happen.

I try to make something I've never made before at least once a week. Sometimes it's just a different salad or new way of cooking a vegetable. Some times it's more complicated. It keeps things interesting.
