Kath, I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about. I never said you couldn't post.

I have been busy house hunting. We aren't ready to buy yet and rentals that allow pets are hard to find around here. I've been looking and calling since October but we have until May to move out.

Found one in the country about 8 miles out. It's an old house that's been a rental for years and needs work. Owner said "no indoor animals" but we looked at it anyway and in person we offered a double damage deposit if our two Boxers were allowed inside (neither one has ever been an outside pet). Thankfully he said ok but wants to see the house in 6 months to assess for damages.

The kitchen is 3 different shades of yellow and dingy flat white. The dining room (which will be sewing/computer room) is a deep, deep country blue and at one time had a border b/c the paint doesn't go all the way to the ceiling. The large bedroom is a combination of light tan over pink sponge that was never finished with a dark green ceiling!!! The two smaller bedrooms are light tan but so filthy they won't come clean. I don't mind painting but have never had to do almost a whole house that needed everything primed and then painted.

I've been cleaning and painting, painting and cleaning. Once it's ready to move into in a couple weeks, we'll get a UHaul and move. THEN we get to clean and paint this house so the landlady (in her late 60s and lives out of state) won't have to hire it done. We should be pros by then!

I have no time for sewing right now and once we move, I'll be making window treatments out the wazoo!

So, Kathy, does the owner pay for all of this fixin' up? And do you guys get credit towards your rent for doing so? Seems only fair. And you know your boxer babies and I'm sure they'll be just fine. Good Luck.

No he isn't paying for anything, doesn't want to put money into it other than necessary repairs. On one hand, I don't particulary like fixing up someone else's property but on the other hand, there is no way I'd live there as is and it's only paint which is the cheapest way to spruce it up. Labor intesive yes but money wise, not too bad. Besides, my spring cleaning will be done and I plan to get rid of stuff when we move.

Be sure to take pictures of it before you paint for when it is deposit return time.

I took pictures of each room, different views and some closeups of the worst areas. I'll take new ones of the completed rooms before we actualy move in. I am also keeping all the receipts of what we've spent on primer and paint. I even had to buy curtain rods for all the windows as the previous renters just took them down curtains and all when they moved out.

Got alot done yesterday, heading back out there today. I'm stiff and sore but plan to take it easy tomorrow.

They probably had to buy their own too.
