Stash Challenge 2008/2009 Yardage and Discussion

I better get sewing or I won't hit the 100 yd mark! All I need to do is put the buttons & buttonholes in my blouse.
Somehow life has gotten in the way this week & I haven't gotten it done.

I got it done! I had to try to figure the yardage from the pattern envelope. I made a short sleeve bloue with a collar & the only measurements for that one were useing 2 different fabrics. So I used the amounts from the short sleeve W/O collar & added 1/8 yd for the collar.
Here is a picture http://s111.photobucket.com/albums/n159 ... 002050.jpg The shirt really needs pressing but I figure since it has sat on a shelf for about 2 years I should wash it before I wear it so will press if it needs it after washing. Being gauze I hope it won't need much! The front is not really crooked it is just the way it was hanging.
It is a little big but it is a drop shoulder shirt & the fabric is gauze so it looks OK. I will probably wear it to work or just around home when I am babysitting this summer so it should be alright.

made a baby towel wrap that I just finished embroidering. It's taken me all day, I'm just having a real struggle getting back into the swing of sewing.

Final entry for me.. I finally finished the 3 tote bags to be used for demos in my class that starts Thursday.. The drapery/upholstery fabrics I bought last spring at a garage sale.. So I made 3 lined totes that cost a large sum.. $ 1.50 for all 3 pieces.. (1 yd each) This was a great challenge.. I still have too much stash in my sewing room though. LOL

Finished! I had some white lycra knit that I wanted to make a long sleeved scoop neck t shirt with and after my fight all afternoon with the baby wrap I decided something nice and easy was called for. Whipped it up in 1.5 hours too!! Now to go sit and finish some hand sewing from my bears and relax. I also have way too much stash left!

I made 4 baby blocks with leftover quilt/curtain fabrics. I used leftover batting for the stuffing. DH stuffed as I sewed. He's a real keeper!

Spandex leggins for DGD. Black spandex has been in the stash for one year. I love to sew wiht spandex. It makes neet piping and anything I have tried with it has worked.

Brown poly/lycra knit I bought around August used to make a frankenpattern - it is a cross between a now TNT T-shirt pattern I used for this top: Cowl neck top and this pattern: McCall 5705.

I'm not thrilled with the hood part, so I may chop that off later, but I finished and wore it yesterday, so I guess that counts as done. Pictures to come, but I wouldn't really recommend the hoodie part of it.

I am going to set myself a personal "Stash Challenge" for now through May/ i don't know what my goal will be yet. I am trying to decide between projects or yardage. I need to reduce my stash so I can see it all & don't need to move everything when I am looking for a particular piece.
