Updates to SWU

New postby kaitlinnegan on Wed Feb 27, 2008 12:04 am

Bob updated the software to the latest version today. Some things may be very slightly different, but in general you shouldn't notice any changes. More noticeably, the thread/topic icons have been changed so they are all sewing related. :geek:

I love those new ones!

But.. all of a sudden, just now (it's 3:40 pm my time) all of the new posts disappeared. That is really odd.. Don't tell me they are all gone.. :(

Jen - see this thread: View New Posts

Here is the explanation I gave in that thread:
Edited to add: Ok, the definitive answer is that "View new posts" shows the new posts since you last logged in. So, if you have it set to log you in automatically, it never gets reset and shows a bunch of old posts toward the bottom of the list. If you get logged out at some point, the "new posts" get reset and would happen to be all unread. Hopefully that makes sense -- anyway, the feature has not changed. As before, if you want to look for new unread posts, you can just look from the top down for unread posts as they are sorted by date.

So, you probably got logged out and your "new posts" got reset and now only shows the posts since you last logged in. If you click "View active threads" instead you can see the last 75 posts from newest to oldest, not just the new ones since you logged in last. Hope this helps! :)

Edited 3/2/2008: Update on the View New Posts feature -- with the software update it did actually change. Now clicking "View New Posts" only shows the new posts since you last visited the site (not since you last logged in). As I said before, if you want to view more than that, click "View Active Threads" to see the 75 most recent threads.

For some reason on IE the web site shows a blank page, but everything is fine with Firefox. I wonder if it is a coincidence or if anyone else has that problem. I guess not everyone has Firefox for a back up...

The site has been tested with both Internet Explorer and Firefox, and it works fine with the current versions of both web browsers.

There have been 3800 page views on SWU since the update from Internet Explorer (only 1600 non-IE page views), so I'm guessing it is fine for others too. Not sure what the problem might be! :?
