What sewing projects are you working on?

DEC 2018

As the Angel Project is ending, I am starting to work on Christmas gifts. Making some pillowcases for family members as well as embroidered napkins. For a gift exchange, I'm making some free standing lace ornaments (set of 5). Also, have 2 preemie outfits cut out and ready to sew along with pillows for the homeless and those in a retirement community. Just a busy, busy time of the year.

I spent most of the day sewing yesterday. Made 3 tote bags and a preemie sleeper. I probably would have done more but I had to unsew the neckband of the sleeper. After finishing it Iheld it up and thought how big the neck looked. Instead of cutting the neckband as a single layer I cut it on the fold at the single layer length making it twice as long. I had thought that the neckband was going in too easily. Oh, well, wouldn't be me if I didn't have to do some unsewing. The sleeper looks cute and is ready for the meeting on Monday.

Since Dec 19th, I have machine embroidered 14 napkins with various designs ... each napkin took over 20 minutes to stitch plus time for hooping and placement, I monogrammed a bath towel set, made a set of 5 free standing lace angel ornaments ... each angel took over 30 minutes to stitch plus time for hooping and placement, made 2 sets of 5 free standing lace ornaments (different designs), and a pillow. I didn't get a chance to sew much on Saturday nor did I sew any on Sunday. I may have a chance to sew some tonight. One napkin set had 10 thread and bobbin color changes per napkin. These gifts are for extended family members and friends. I have completed 7 of at least 15 projects for Christmas gifts. For my church's Angel Project, I stitched over 75 free standing lace angels that took 45 minutes each to make between Thanksgiving and Dec 19th. It has been a very busy sewing season for me. Merry Christmas!!!

Marty you have certainly been busy. I've not been sewing much this month. Went out of town for a week to spend with son and his family. Lots of cooking and fun. DS has turned into quite the chef. Don't know how that happened as I don't really enjoy cooking, so nothing fancy/different ever comes from my kitchen. Hope all are having a merry holiday season.

I am finishing project #10 of the 15 projects. Hopefully, I can finish at least #11 tonight. Then I just have to finish up the next 3 before having to shop for pillowcase fabric. Making pillowcases for 2 great nephews and 2 young nieces. Those will be a quick sew. Will be glad to finish this so I can return to finishing the gifts for Christmas 2017. Yeah, I'm that far behind.

Are you using the magic pillow case instructions? I made several for Abby last year using it and they are nice with no raw edges showing.

Hemmed 3 pairs of pants yesterday. DH likes the way polyester/elastaine fabric feels and looks. These pants had been folded and I had to steam the dickens out of them to remove the fold lines and to have the new hem look good.

These past 3 weeks have kept me busy at my machines ... 2 sets of 8 napkins, 3 sets of Free-standing lace ornaments (5 per set), a dishtowel, 3 sets of 4 napkins, a monogrammed bath set, a pillow and I still have more to stitch. Out of 15 projects, 11 are completed. Whew!!! Hope to finish the others this weekend. The pillowcases will have embroidered bands and french seams. Very easy to do on my serger. Bought the fabric yesterday so I can get started this weekend on them. I have pics of the projects but have not shrunk them to post. Not sure if anyone wants to see all of them and I don't want to use all of Kaitlin's bandwith posting them. They will be on my Facebook page after all have been received by my family members.
