Heart Surgery

New postby MartySews2 on Thu Jun 29, 2017 3:26 pm

Had heart surgery again last Friday. So far, so good. Not on much pain medicine but am uncomfortable in moving my left arm. Had to have my defibrillator replaced. Only one night in the hospital. No sewing right now which is hard for me. However, I don't have the energy. My primary doctor is concerned about the blisters from the tape used. They look somewhat infected so am getting a med for that. Otherwise, life goes on.

Marty, glad to hear all went well with your surgery. Sorry to hear you aren't able to sew right now. I know with me sewing not only keeps my hands busy but my head as well-can't sit and think to much about things other than what I'm doing. Take care and follow the doctors instructions so you can get back to sewing.

How are you feeling Marty? Are you back to sewing yet? Do hope the infection from the blisters has healed. I can't use band aids or any type of tape on my skin as I blister also, generally within minutes of being applied. I've had "talks" with medical people who insist that latex free band aids won't cause a problem- they do. I love the tape that sticks only to itself when I have a cut on an area that can be wrapped but it isn't so good when I need a bandage on my torso.

Healing slowly. Some of the blisters are infected as the nurse failed to call in the prescription ointment until after July 4th. It was prescribed on June 29th. Am using it now. To add to my woes, my daughter was in a horrific car crash early Sunday morning on her way home from work which totaled her car. We are so thankful that she was not seriously injured. Her Toyota Matrix was so well made, the air bags saved literally saved her life. It's another one of God's miracles. She is very sore and bruised and we are grateful that there were not any broken bones or internal injuries and only a slight concussion. She was treated in the ER after extensive testing and released.
Still not sewing yet but I will get to it soon. Reading sewing blogs and watching sewing DVDs is helping me to cope with not sewing.
