Used singer 9117

I've got a chance to purchase a 9117 for $65.00. I'd like to know what it cost new, or what it might be worth now? She is the sole owner and says it works just fine. She did say I may have to adjust the tension or address a tension issue. Makes me wonder if any one has heard of any issues w/ this machine. I also read the manual on line and saw it has a vacuum hose and wondered if they get brittle and/or crack w/ age? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Steph, I have no info on Modern Day Singers. I have a used 221 featherweight that I purchased used from Singer Rental in 1957. My sons named it "Old Faithful". It is still going strong today.. But that is from another era entirely. My daily machine is Janome MemoryCraft 4000, about 20 years or so and still works like new. Good luck in your quest.
