My Sewing Corner

As most of you know, I don't have a sewing room so I utilize all of the rooms in our home. Once my daughter is out of school and finds her own place to live, I plan to turn her bedroom into a sewing area for my cutting table and supplies plus hopefully, a commercial type embroidery machine. I will keep my machines in their little sewing corner of the living room next to the doorway to the bedrooms. Here is my little corner right now ...

Marty, I have my machines set up in a similar way in my sewing room. All I have to do is spin my chair to move from sewing machine to serger. It is the best set up I've had in years. I remember years ago when the kids were little I didn't have a dedicated sewing place either and have had to sew in dark basements and in bright entryways. It is hard to see the kids fly the nest but it sure is nice to get the extra space!

Very nice corner. Marty, it is so good to hear you still being upbeat about sewing and I hope this means you have recovered sufficiently from your stroke . I'm going to post a photo or 2 but not about sewing its about stroke recovery. Maybe tomorrow.

Mine is similar, but backwards because of me being a lefty. Machine then, cover stitch at right angle to that, and next to it on the 6 foot table is the serger and then the miniature ironing board and iron on the very end of that table.When I am serging I can see out the front window onto the street . I watch for the mail a lot while serging. The other end of the room has a daybed and that is piled high with fabrics and odds and ends. Then I have a large steel shelf on the wall between table and daybed with 4 shelves full of fabrics. It is one of those big ones like most people put in their garage.

Libby, I have my cover stitch on my 6 foot table that is along one wall that is behind where I sew. I have a U shape sewing nook with the serger being in the center. I have floor to ceiling shelves that cover one entire wall. Way too much fabric, more than I'll ever use in my lifetime but I always manage to look for more. I wonder if I could do with a table top iron instead of the full size one that takes up one wall. I'm running out of room. Marty, I don't know how you manage with only a small space.
I stopped at a thrift store the other day that had a sign out it had just received a huge lot of sewing/craft supplies. Owner said more was available but he wouldn't be putting it out until more room opened up in his shop. Guess I'll be stopping in every few weeks to see if they have any appropriate fabrics for babies.
