Hi Nina, welcome to the forum. I do lots of machine embroidery and will be glad to share what I know. I find that I love http://www.soniashowalterdesigns.com and to me the prices are reasonable for the quality of the digitizing. Looking forward to seeing pics of your projects. I'm a garment sewist and am constantly am sewing for others as well as myself. I teach classes and am in the American Sewing Guild (ASG) and the Smocking Arts Guild of America (SAGA) plus I sew for Threads of Love. It keeps me busy as I sew something almost every day.

Welcome Nina, we are glad you found us. I am having problems with my hands right now, so I haven't sewed much lately, but I check this site every day that I get on my computer. (Usually about 5 days out of seven) I am 80 yrs old and have been sewing since I was 14. I do a lot of crafts and a lot of easy projects as I get older. I still make t Shirts to wear for myself because all in the stores are made for people taller than I am. And I can make a lower prettier neckline that the plain ones. I appreciate embroidery but I do not have a machine capable of that. I felt I was too old when they came out to justify the cost, so I just kept my trusty Janome Memory craft 4000. I also haave a serger and a coverstitch machine, in addition to "Old Faithful" as my sons call my singer 221 featherweight I purchased used in 1957. Best machine in the whole wide world, it still makes the prettiest buttonholes of any machine I ever saw.

Welcome Nina. Welcome to the boards. I don't do any embroidery but have thought about it. I'm with Libby in that I don't think the cost is worth it at my age. My sewing machine allows me to do the alphabet and a few other decorative stitches but they are fairly small so not very useful for really decorating clothing or linens with. I have made labels for blankets using my sewing machine but that is about it. Make sure you post pictures of what you make.

Brockie, you reminded me. Mine has the small alphabet also , along with a lot of decorative stitches. Thanks. I had not used the abc's lately and forgot to mention that in my earlier post.

Nina, I'm Belinda, I have an older embroidery machine that I have to purchase design cards for and cant get designs from the internet. I do enjoy the embroidery function when and if I get the opportunity to sew. Though I am game to attempt anything sewing, I am still a novice and am very slow. Currently my husbands stroke has sidlined mey sewing. I had hoped to retire and do alterations for a bit of extra spending money. Reality set in about a year before Ronnie became ill and I realized that it is more lucrative if I keep working as long as my mind and body hold out and just enjoy sewing as an occasional diversion. I hope you visit here often and post your projects for us to enjoy.
