Karen, I was not meaning to knock anyone who loves Machine Embroidery. I know I am in the minority, but I know what I can afford and what I cannot. I will say a gentle reminder I am a child of the depression, so I was raised to be very careful on how I spend my money. My sister, on the other hand is a baby boomer and she throws money around like I don't know what. She just turned 65 while I am 80. That makes quite a difference in income also. She is a computer expert and that was her profession for a long time so she had the money to spend, while I did not. I just wish some of the publications would remember us older folks who con't have all the latest inventions. That Up cycling magazine sounds good to me, because I love recycling.

Oh I wasn't knocking you around Libby... and I don't utilize my machine embroidery like I could.. too many other things get in the way.. but thanks to dear hubby I was able to trade up my older machine for my newer to me machine that I really really like and I have actually done more on it than I did on my other one. That being said.. I do know some who have done way more machine embroidery than I have done and some that have separate machines... oh well.. I don't have a serger and I know some on here that dearly love their sergers.. and I have a dear friend that loves her serger also... years ago she tried to talk me into one... I just never could see the need for one... guess that just isn't in my scope of need!!
But.. I do want to know what that upcycle magazine is.. I may have to do an internet search for that one!!

I do remember that the copies of the up cycling magazine, that I have since given away, were purchased at Hancock's in their magazine section. It has been a couple of years. I am about to downsize my sewing room because with Ronnie being so dependent. I don't feel that I have time to sew and can't see getting consumed by it again any time soon. I do still love to hear and see what others are doing.
By the way. Ronnie is really doing pretty well and today he helped me find my work badge and a missing credit card. He even went to the car and searched it and went through my large tote/purse. I did not ask him to. We are getting a service dog for him in October. It will help us know when Ronnie has a seizure coming on, will detect rapid changes in his blood sugar and will help him with everyday tasks. It will even be able to bring in the mail and pick up stuff for Ronnie among other tasks..

Belinda, (and everyone else interested.) Yesterday our local newspaper , Charlotte Observer, printed an article about a lady who recycles clothing from thrift stores. She is petite so she is hard to alter to fit is what she said got her started. She has a blog and they gave it in the article. I think you will find it interesting. http://www.refashionista.net is the way the paper listed it. I don't know if blogs are different or not. She is in Columbia, SC, not here in Charlotte.
