asking quilters about puffy center quilts

A friend saw a quilt with a puffy type center similar to a yoyo. Wonder if anyone knows what or how they are made

I am guessing you are referring to bisquit quilts. I googled that can came up with a few links. It showed a few you tube videos but my dial-up won't support videos. Here are some links:

I don't know if that's it or not... I'll have to ask my friend... thanks though for the links.. I searched online for stuff.. never saw those.

DSIL made these by hand when her children were small. She used scrap fabric from used clothing and didn't put a backing on and she stuffed the squares with old panty hose/nylons that were donated to her. I remember seeing her sit surrounded by mounds of these stuffed squares and she mix and match and stitch them together by hand into what ever size blanket she needed at the time.
