Birds Nest and worse

Help!!! Suddenly my Viking Sapphire 875Q has decided to build huge birds nest out of my upper thread. I've changed needles (twice), rethreaded numerous times, changed bobbins, cleaned the bobbin case, and every thing else I can think of that might be user controlled. Any ideas? I've got a birthday project due and the closest dealer is 2 hours away.

Hmm, I'm sure you have the bobbin unwinding the right direction. Could it be the wrong Needle for the fabric? (??? Just going through my mental checklist.) I would completely remove the spool of thread, remove the bobbin, check to see if anything is wrong with the winding of the bobbin or thread spool. Run some floss through the tension disc. Use a basting brush or tiny paint brush to swipe under and around the feed dogs. Now retread and try again.

Could your tensions have been changed somehow? I agree with Belinda, clean your tension disc with floss. Double check your bobbin too that it is wound correctly. I have a viking machine too and I have to look closely at the bobbin to make sure I get it right as the only way to tell is a small emblem on one side of it. The emblem has to be up when I wind and insert it into my machine. Also, is your thread somehow getting caught? I know if I use my old spools of thread sometimes as the thread is feeding off the spool it will get caught in the little slit on the side of the spool to keep it from unrolling when stored. Is there a burr in the needle eye that is shredding the thread? You've done everything else I would have done-changed needles, rethreaded etc. Good luck and let us know the outcome, we never know when we will come across the same issue with our machines.

My machine did this not too long ago and I had cleaned under my feed dogs and had removed the bobbin case. When I put it back in, the bobbin case was not lined up correctly which caused a huge mess and a trip to the dealer. Check to be sure that the bobbin case is properly installed and any little bits of thread are out from under the feed dogs. Hope this helps.
