New Machine on its way ...

New postby MartySews2 on Tue Oct 15, 2013 8:18 pm

My birthday is in about 10 days so hubby told me tonight to order a 24 needle Read pleater so I can smock garments. It is something that I wanted but wasn't sure if it was in the budget or not. I gave him a list of things from $20 - $200+ from which to choose my birthday gift. I was so happy and excited that he chose to give me the pleater even if I had to order it myself. I told him to keep the list and use it for my Christmas gift. I am so happy and I know I will love having a pleater. I have almost all of the things that I want in a sewing room ... now to just get the room cleared out so I can move my stuff in. I'm doing the

Have fun with your pleater Marty. I would love to be able to hold a needle long enough to do some smocking but arthur won't let me. :(
I had to look up to see what a read pleater was. You Tube is amazing in what you can find. Looks like it makes the task a whole lot easier than when I saw pleating done way back in the dark ages.
Again enjoy your new machine. If you DH is like my DH there would be no waiting til the b'day it would be open now!!

Oh Brockie, I can wait until my birthday ... I'm cleaning off my daughter's desk so I can set it up. I'm cleaning out space so that I can move some of my sewing stuff to her room as I convert it to a sewing studio for me.

Ooooo doing the  with you. Good idea, get everything all arranged and the spotlight ready! Just take care and don't do too much lifting.

I have to do all of the lifting as hubby just had a nerve block for the pain from bone spurs on his cervical canal. It's tough when both of us are incapacitated. I will just go very, very slow. Won't get a lot done in her room as I want to clean up my living room space. Then I have to take down her bed, find storage space for her bins of clothing and all of the stuff piled on her bed. There's no room in the attic as a contractor messed up my attic space where over half of it is unusable when he put down flooring and built a shelf across the middle of the attic from one side of the house to the other. He moved up furniture, boxes of books, etc and now it's so cluttered, we cannot get to the cleared space. We have to move things around and take down the large divider that he built. Hubby is not up to that task at this time. It may take a year or more before I have space for my sewing equipment and supplies. However, I am patient and will take baby steps.

Marty, perhaps I will get a chance to run away from home in the coming months and come up and move some stuff for you. There is nothing like helping someone to get into a new desirable situation.

PS, Don't hold your breath though since my situation is tenuous.

Oh, I truly understand Belinda ... there won't be a whole lot of moving furniture from the new sewing room except for the double bed at this time. Hubby will help with that when my shoulder heals. The rest of the furniture has to stay until Sarah has her own home in about 2.5 yrs. Then I will have the entire room for sewing.
