It is done!

Just under 500 sq ft, but will become just under 2000 within the next year or two. So the property and my business will grow together. I will be renting which is ideal for me right now. The owners acquired the building and are doing some major renovations returning it to it's former glory. The outside of the building has so much character, I can't wait to show you pictures. The small size allows me to get started with a smaller investment in inventory for which I am grateful. I have always said that the services and classes are where I want to focus and grow so this is good.

Gina, thanks for the pics. Great looking store. Love the character of the outside (reminds me of my home town when I was a kid and all the stores there) and I'm sure you'll have the inside to match it.
I don't know what you call it but I've seen in some stores with bright sunshine issues what looks to be tinted cellophane as blinds. It dims the sun coming in but people can see in from the outside and know you are open. I have a fabric store that I frequent that has a problem with excessive sun in the afternoons and it really is difficult for them to use their scanners and such because of it.
Miss Fleecy there was a show on tv last night discussing the square reader and how much cheaper it was to use than the conventional credit card scanners and how easy it was to set up. Also showed a coffee shop using a tablet as a register and how it recognized repeat customers coming and how that the customers didn't even have to pull out a credit card to pay for their orders and that a receipt was sent to their phones as proof of payment. I'm so far behind in the tech world I'll never catch up. I'm sure you've all noticed a lack of pictures from me, yup, don't know how to download/upload them!!

On 60 min. last Sunday was the person who invented that square reader thingy.. he also started twitter... it was very interesting.. maybe you could watch on the internet??

Gina, that is really a cute spot! I love the windows. I saw a sewing machine store that had too much window, so they made a window display, and put a backing on it, so where the display is you can not see the inside of the store.

It's perfect! It's clean and bright, cheery and cozy. The windows are wonderful and the view is nice too.

What a darling space!! And love the name..only advice that I can give is to NEVER be unpleasant even to those who are awful to you...It is not fair but one unpleasant event comes back more than a hundred smiles...My response when I could not please someone was "I am so sorry that you are unhappy." Grrrr..

Thought I should update you on the business. Things are going well. I've been open two months and the sewing side of the business is booming. I am never in need of something to sew. The fabric side is a little less busy but that will come with time I am sure. The upside it that I am bringing in enough money already to pay all the static bills with a little left over to order more inventory. Not drawing a paycheck yet but that will come soon, I am sure if things keep going as they have been. Labor of Love I keep telling myself. Labor of Love.

I'm so glad that you posted an update, Gina. Ordinarily, it takes about 5yrs for a business to begin to turn a profit (according to my business manager professor). If you can keep the bills paid and have enough for inventory, you're doing great!!!
