Barb, dont cut those sleeves off!!!!!!!!!!

Just had to jump in here. I was lurking and saw that someone made a shirt that was a bit tight. I think it was Barb. I have been researching gussets and I feel that is the answer to your problem. Just a long oval or diamond to give you a bit more room/ease. Barb, Could you add a gusset in the sleeve seam or unnderarm , side and sleeve seam. I am having to do that on a jacket i made for Chloe. I thought about adding a gusset to the side seam with a contrasting fabric. If it doesn't fit DD I might. I was thinking if I could find a contrast in the same fabric maybe cream or black.

I made a top for DGD as a wearable muslin but it was too tight in the sleeves. When we visited after Christmas I added a gusset. Was easy to do and the top now fits perfectly. All I did was open up the underarm seam and cut a square piece of fabric to fit and basted then stitched it in.
On another batch of dresses I made for this same DGD she had gained a lot of weight after I made the dresses so I added a strip of fabric the entire side seam length, including the sleeve and they fit beautifully. On some of the dresses I had matching fabric and others I had to use contrasting and they all turned out nice.

Barb., I had an acquaintance that made a dress a bit to tite. The only extra fabric available was the fabric covered belt she had made to match the dress. She took the belt apart and put the retrieved piece of fabric in one side seam of the dress. Only someone that was inspecting the dress would have noticed the gusset addition.
