for future reference.... I remembered, after I logged off yesterday that I had just read somewhere that warm water was better for removing fresh blood from most any fabric.. I tried that, also and it worked.. funny thing, I never get any pin pricks when I am sewing for myself, its always something I'm making for someone else! ! I keep my folder with quick hints in my sewing room just for that reason..

Here is the only picture I got of the girls in their dresses. If I get one of DD's to loan my their camera card I will put up a better one.

I bought this fabric on Black Friday with no idea what to use it for, only that it would be for DD. She wanted PJs like I made for myself. There was only enough fabric for the top so we bought a solid pink for the pants but that won't count in this challenge. I don't know if the decorative stitches will show up but I had to stitch along the satin because it was already pulling out of the seam. I used the same stitch on the sleeve and bottom hems.

3 1/4 yard other (quilt)

New postby momquilts on Mon Dec 28, 2009 9:33 pm

I finished machine quilting this tonight. I think I have completed quite a few UFO's thanks to this challenge! Great incentive to get my sewing room cleared out. Now I may have room to unpack the two bags from JoAnn's that I got on Saturday.

This quilt is for DD's co-worker's son who won't let her wash his first quilt. I hope he bonds with this one like he did with the first.

Here's my Jack on his new dog bed. It's a little smaller than he needs but I used the bottom foam pad from his torn up bed that seemed a lot bigger with sides on it. Anyway, I used an old blanket with two layers sewn together on the top and the bottom of the foam and then covered it with fleece I had. He likes it. I guess it still smells like his old bed.

Btw, our Jack just had his 7th b'day on Christmas Day.

I was just rereading the rules & realized we were supposed to be saying how long fabric has been in our stash.
I think this is the oldest stash fabric I had. I bought the sunflower/crow fabric when DD(25) was into sunflowers. That was about when she was 8 or 9YO. so this is approx.17YO. The red & white stripe I have had about that long also.

6.75yd garments & 9.75yd Other

New postby material_pakrat on Mon Dec 28, 2009 11:06 pm

I have a heap to list, with the rotten computer dying, and me giving up smoking, there is not a lot to do other than sewing!

http://s26.photobucket.com/albums/c140/finch3380/StashChallenge2009/ All of the pics are in here. I tried to put them in the order I have listed them here.

1yd White Hermosa top for Ally
1.5 yd Red & white Redondo skirt for Ally. Both made because she didn't want to wear a red shirt & denim pants like the rest of the kids.
1yd Boxers for hubby. He was told not to complain about the pattern, or he'd end up with Winnie the Pooh.
0.75yd Three quarter pants for Ally.
2.5yd Was trying out a pattern for fit, but ended up with acceptable PJ pants for me

So 6.75 yd total for Garments

3.5yd Roman blind for my ensuite. This one has been in the to-do bin for a year. So glad to have it up for summer.
1.0yd Runner for my kitchen bench
1.5yd "No Roosters" Placemats - Only claiming the binding & backing. I bought the material coz I just loved the bright colours.
2.5yd Christmas placemats for me
1.0yd Christmas table runner for our Tuck Shop lady
0.25yd Fleecy cover for a travel pillow for Sam

So 9.75yd total for Other
Happiness is finally having a sewing room! Soph
