Grand total 5.5 yards. I finished the valances for the guest room last night. This is the first time in a long time that I have used fabric (other than costumes) right after I bought it. Now I just need curtain rods & one of my tall people to hang them.

Well, I've figured out what I'm sewing for Wendy, and have made a slip from the same pattern to figure out such important details like how to do the pin tucks and other such things. Now I have to sew closures on the slip, and then actually cut into the fashion fabric..........

1.To complete DSIL's tank top and alterations in time for her trip in early March.
2. To find the already cut out sleeves to a dress half completed for DGD and complete it. Might have to be sleeveless since I don't have any more fabric. The cats have struck again.
3. Complete Butterick 4970 view A for another DGD in time for her b'day end of March. I have a pale blue knit with red lady bugs (her favorite) and a white knit for the leggings.
4. Make t-shirts, short sets for 2 grandsons for their b'days in March.
5. Alter some favorite tops down to my current size.
6. Sew at least 1 summer outfit before April, using only stash.

Re: Just Do It Challenge (6 items)

New postby StitchNTime on Sat Feb 07, 2009 1:46 pm

I've put some thought into how I want to personally challenge myself and came up with A "Just Do It Challenge". I've had a really difficult time getting back into a groove since finishing up my Christmas sewing. I've been a stranger to anything creative except for in the kitchen. During this challenge I will do the projects I've thought about doing using both stash and whatever else I need to add to it. It will consist of wearables, craft items, quilting and things needed around the house. Hopefully I'll actually get moving on making the love seat cover I've been procrastinating for months. I'll keep track of completed projects (items) as opposed to quantity of materials.

I got started today with the completion of 5 burp cloths and a baby blanket made of flannel.

I updated the first post to contain a list of everyone's goals. It's by no means official - feel free to change your goals at any time. :)

How is everyone doing? I was going to start on a muslin of the Burdastyle Ellen pants last night, but I got sidetracked when I realized I had just enough fabric left over from my last top to make a tank top. :) If I'm lucky I'll make the tank top *and* the pants muslin tonight, but we'll see! I would like to get a pair of pants done soon, since I could really use them.

! pair of childs size 7 pants not part of my goal but already started and finished.
Thats ok. It is part of a mix and match wardrobe for her that was already in progress before this challenge started and will become more a part of my goal to sew and complete garments and enjoy sewing.

I bought 3/4 of a yd of fabric to make DGDs Raggedy Ann's for their BDay in June. I found the leg red stripe at Walmart for $2 a yd so I had to buy it since I have heard they will be closing in March! That means for my goal i still need to use 48 1/2 yds.

Aim for 50 yards by the end of March - 3.5 yrd done

New postby material_pakrat on Mon Feb 09, 2009 12:18 am

I have about 4 quilts to make by the end of March, so I am hoping that this will be a big enough target. Hubby would just like me to keep the stash decreasing a bit.

I made a set of pockets for the local kinda, and backed some curtains today. So I am off and running at 3.5 yards.
Happiness is finally having a sewing room! Soph
