February Bingo: Garden Plants

New postby temom on Mon Jan 30, 2012 9:30 am

This morning I thought I would look to see who is calling February's bingo, and send them a little reminder. Guess who was on the list? Sweet Little Me, who completely forgot! Lately my mind has been on my garden, and this weekend I even started some seeds in peat pots. So now you all can consider having a garden, even if it is just 2 or 3 plants in pots on a windowsill

New players are strongly encouraged to join us. Simply pick 25 words from the list (ok, technically they aren't words, but lines), and send them to me in a Private Message. Every day in February I will pick 5 words (thanks to the random number program) to post. Mark them off your list, and the first one to get all 25 and post "Bingo" wins. A small prize is included!

Since I am so late, I will delaly calling until February 2nd.

OK, I received Jan's words. Let the game begin!

February 1:
55. Fava bean (Vicia faba)
64. Greater Plantain (Plantago major)
88. Mung bean (Vigna radiata)
111. Shallot (Allium cepa Aggregatum group)
144. Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)

February 2:
16. Black-eyed pea (Vigna unguiculata subsp. unguiculata)
27. Celeriac (Apium graveolens var. rapaceum)
39. Chrysanthemum leaves (Chrysanthemum coronarium)
49. Drumstick (Moringa oleifera)
85. Miner's Lettuce

The only one of these plants that I've grown are the Chrysanthemums. OK, so it says Chrysanthemum leaves. If you grow the plant, you grow the leaves! They are hardy little plants. They are very much neglected and bloom their little hearts out just for me. :)
