These are the projects I finished for gifts. Thought I would share since they've all been given now.

This quilt was for my brother.

Those quilts are so very pretty. You are so productive. How did you do the pillowcased. Is that what is call entradeau??? or some such. It is so classy looking.

The pillowcases were so simple. I measured my king sized pillow cases and cut the material so that they would be about the same size but it was 1 long piece of material so that there would not be but the 2 side seams. I folded over the what would be the open end edge about 1/2 inch and then again about 2 1/2 inches and pressed and sewed. I had to do this part on the 4 ends of the material. (Clear as mud right?) Then I just folded each in half and sewed the 2 side seams. I actually then when back down each side seam with a blanket stitch on my sewing machine so that the material would not ravel on the inside. Pressed both pillow cases and decided to add the decorative stitch close to the folded edge. I just chose a simple stitch that my machine can do by pushing a button. I was very please with how they turned out. My daughter thought I bought the pillow cases and just added the stitching which made me even more happy with how they turned out. Pillowcases are very easy and much cheaper to make than they are to buy. The local stores wanted $35 for 2 pillow cases and I got out much cheaper even buying the material at a local quilt shop.

Sheila, great quilts and I love the pilowcases too. You made me think of a fabric book I bought to make up for my great nephew...he's now 3 years old. Guess I'd better make it up soon... and give it to his cousin who is now 7 months!

I've spent the day working on preggoDD's hockey quilt. As I was sewing, I thought, what the heck are these little red marks??? Turns out I had cut my thumb on something and now I have little spots of blood on it, and it's white! I have to wash it, but should I dab the blood out now, and do I use warm water?

Oh I just read about it and it's cold water!! I used a bit of Resolve and cold water and it looks ok, but now I am noticing that some of the wonder tape that I used is showing yellow through the fabric. Goldangit anyhow. I think I can put something over it so it's not so noticeable and hopefully once it's washed that will dissolve away. I've never had wondertape turn color on me before. (Insert very large 4 letter brown word here).

Laura, when we do a VCQ quilt-a-thon, they always remind everyone that if they cut themselves and get blood on the quilt, to take some of their own saliva and rub on it. Then it will come out when washed. Also, you can use hydrogen peroxide to take it out before it is washed. My father used it on a car seat that had blood on it after an accident...but I've never tried that myself.

I have peroxide in a spray bottle that DD got at Walmart. Works wonders on getting blood out of things! I just used it this morning.
