No plans in particular. That's really good of you and your family, Barb, to give some deserved attention to the cemetaries in the area. I remember you doing that last year too. Dh and ds are going to be doing mass clean up on the property. It's a mess of construction materials from the greenhouse and other projects. The springtime greenery (the unwanted kind) has also taken over. I'll mostly be in the house busy with embroidering shirts so I can get to some sewing I'd like to be doing. But first, housework...........

Last weekend was Victoria Day weekend...the long weekend for Canadians. But this morning I went to the Great Glebe Garage Sale in Ottawa. I've missed it for the past couple of years and thought I would miss it again this year. Since I went to the quilt show in Montreal yesterday, I could go this morning. My cousin & I got a late start...we both had trouble waking up this morning so had to park further away from the area than normal. Every year I say I'm going to take my camera but don't . The Glebe is a section of Ottawa that has huge homes & small front yards and every year they have a garage sale on the last weekend of May. People come from miles around to go to it! Friends of people come and setup tables, churches have sales tables inside & outside, people sell all kinds of food. It is a huge event!!! This year was the most crowded I have ever seen it. And if you snooze you lose...LOL My cousin lost a futon and frame for $10. She only wanted the frame, not the futon mattress. The woman said $5 for the frame. She went to get the money out of her purse and someone else said she would take both...so it was sold to the second person before my cousin could get her money out.

I came home with 13 paperbacks (anywhere from 25 cents to $1), a fancy glass dish with frosted tulips around the outside $3, a medium sized jewellery box for $3, two broaches one christmas and one a flower for $8, a deluxe TV tray that fits on the arm of the couch or chair for $2 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360265737041). Was a good day even though we were prowling the streets in the Glebe from 8:15 until noon. Forgot that I even helped fund a student trip to England by buying a brownie and a chocolate chip cookie...LOL

I found a site where someone has pictures of the garage sale from 2008...if you look at the pics of the crowds...just think more people cause that was what it was like today.

I ended up getting to spend the afternoon in the ER. Around noon today, my DH's doctor called to tell him that his CK levels were highly elevated & he was losing muscle tissue. He was told to go to the ER immediately as this was life threatening. They asked him if he had been doing a lot of yard work lately? He said no but had increased his walking in the neighborhood to about 5 miles a day. They repeated the blood tests & about 5 hours later, they sent us home with instructions to see the doctor first thing on Tuesday morning. We still don't have any answers but the CK levels while elevated were half of the numbers from yesterday. Weird ... Now, my nerves are shot. I'll go with him on Tuesday to the doctor to find out what's going on.

WOW! My boring weekend got a whole lot more interesting this afternoon. DS called to say DDIL was going out of town with her mother. He asked if we wanted him and DGS for today and overnight. How long do you think it took me to say yes???? They got here around 2. DGS had his first swim of the year then sat with great-grandparents on the deck while his daddy and I were in the pool. We had pizza for dinner and DGS entertained everyone toddling around on my parents porch. He is finally starting to wind down (10 pm). Hopefully it won't be too much longer until he is ready for bed. DH has to get up at 4:30 for work and he won't go to bed if DGS is still being adorable.

I think Nana has to go get the bedtime bottle ready, I can hear some crying from the kitchen. Have a great holiday for those of you who are off tomorrow!

Our weekend was interesting yesterday when I had to take my DH to the emergency room. We were there 5 hours & then got to come home. It really shook me up. Seems that on Friday when my DH had his 13 wk post surgical check-up, his blood tests showed an extremely elevated CK levels. His doctor called Saturday morning & told us to go to the ER immediately. He was concerned that my DH was losing muscle mass & may have had an undiagnosed heart attack or an underlying neuro-muscular disease. High CK levels are very critical as they can cause heart & kidney failure. The blood tests were repeated while we waited in the hallway as there were no rooms available. The second set of tests showed that the levels were reduced from Friday but were still very high. DH & I are very puzzled over this. DH thinks that maybe because he walked over 5 miles on Thursday night & only ate a light supper, it would have thrown his test results off. We will go on Tuesday morning to have the tests repeated again. I sure hope it isn't anything to be worried over. DH does not feel bad or anything like that. It did put a downer on our weekend.

Marty I hope is is OK! I had to look online to see what CK levels mean. It said they could be elevated if the person exerercised more than usual. It sounds like that is probably what happened.
We had a good time Sat at the Cemeteriers & then at the casino. DD signed up for a card to put in the machines that keep track of how much you gamble (they give you comp money for food & hotel accordingly)
Beacause I took her to the counter they put $10 on her card as a new cardholder & they gave me $10 to gamblr & $10 comp money. I came out with $29.20 cash from the slot machine (I never put any of my own money in) & then before we left Iwent in the gift shop & bought DH some butterscotch candies, 3 decks of cards & some dice for DGSs with my comp money. I only go there once a year & if you don't use the card often enough everything expires. Maybe I will use my winnings & go to bingo with my sisters some day.

Yesterday we put flowers at the local cemeteries & then everyone came back here for a surprise 50th BDay party for my sister. Her Bday is on Wed. but she lives in Indiana so this was the closest we could do. She was really surprised! We gave her a money tree so she can get a shade tree for her back yard.It ended up with over $200 on it. My DD went home & brought back her Waterslide for the kids to play on. It is one of the blow up ones that you plug in & then you attatch a hose & the kids get wet when they go down the slide. It has a pool at the bottom for them to land in.
Today I cleaned up the few things left around outside & put in a load of dishes & laundry. Now I have been sewing 4 more puppy ponchos. I found pink & purple towels so I gave the rust & blur ones to 2 great nieces. I am making DGDs each one & some for the DGDs of a friend from work since she has invited me with my grands to swim at her house this summer.
Tomorrow back to work for 9 more days.

Yes, I think hubby is going to be okay. I've spent today sleeping & working on some clothing repairs for one of my church members. I did make a trip to Hancock Fabrics & bought some broadcloth & notions. Got 40% off of the broadcloth & 10% on everything else. DH is cooking a pot roast for dinner for the 2 of us. DD has gone to eat crab legs with a friend who lives a few doors down. I did get a chance to talk to my baby brother who is celebrating his birthday today. He turned 52. His wife was at work & he was tending the children since it was raining. He really wanted to be bush-hogging the 30 acres in back of his farm. I haven't seen him in over 20 years but we do chat by phone. He told me all about his horse farm & how my niece is wanting to try barrel racing so he is looking to buy her a new horse. She does English style equestrian events & ranks in top 5% for her age group. He's not sure if he will start his youngest who is 18 months old on horses or not. All in all, it's been a great day.
