Cleaning rotary cutting boards

I checked the archives and couldn't find anything.
Have been cutting out fleece buntings and what I call taggies. I've got fibers from the fleece imbedded in my board. I've taken a rough wash cloth and scrubbed at it but not much came out. I took my fingernail and scraped the lines and more came up but still some remains. Anyone got any ideas to help me. I've cut fleece out before but never had this much fiber imbedded but it was on an older board that had way too many grooves in it already and the lint came out with a good scrub with the terry. Thanks for any help.

I had a problem with one of mine, and someone told me to try the scrubbers that you clean pots and pans with. I am talking about the kind that are safe for teflon lined cookware. The ones I have are dark green and roughly about 3 X 5 inches. But not a rectangle shape. I think the shape is called paralellogram, but I am not sure. Also whoever told me about that said to curve the mat while scraping which opens the slits a little to help get the fuzz out.

Brockie, I've used a "Dobie" (brand name) pad to clean fibers out of my board. I now have self-healing mats so I don't have that happen anymore.

Thanks Libby and Marty. I'll have to go to the Dollar Store and see what they have. I was cutting out more sleepers yesterday out of knits and lint is still coming out of the board and covering everything I cut.

Brockie, I you ever buy any more of the boards, buy the green ones. (I forget the brand) they are same price atHancocks as others and they do not seem to hold any lint.. I think that is what Marty called self healing. The Hard gray and white ones are the ones that hold all the materials in each gash made by a rotary cutter. I love all my green ones.

Libby, I have one of the green ones. I had my first one for nearly 20 years before the surface got so bad. I wanted to just flip it over but DH bought me a new one.

The really bad one is by Drtz. I finaly thought to pull it out and look at the name this morning. It has that really slick finish and when you bear down a little too hard it cuts right into the surface and leaves fibers in the slits. I do not use it anymore, just too lazy to throw it away, I guess. All my mats are standing in a corner behind a chair I think I forget they are there unless I need to cut something.LOL
