Half a day to the end of term.......next year one of the teachers and I are taking on a joint Head of Science department role. Unheard of for a lab tech/teaching assistant to be head over teachers but I guess I have proved myself over the last 7 years and they respect my knowledge and abilities. Means I have to be in on training days now though and there is one on Monday - no pupils in so time to get things sorted out ready for the new year. We are likely to be inspected in the new academic year, our school has recently changed status to an academy and we have a new head. All the type of things that can trigger an OFSTED. I am only being 1/2 HoD for 1 year as my friend retires then and we will have enough teaching hours to offer someone a full time job as HoD. At least I should get paid a bit extra for it - no body has mentioned how much yet....

Lennie, these jean pockets are going on purses that a friend makes & sells to supplement her retirement pension. No one will be wearing a rooster or pig on their backside. I would refuse to do it otherwise.

I am glad to hear that, Marty, but I suppose if a heavy person wants to wear a pig on their bottom it's their business.... :?

Getting ready for Calgon to take me awayyyyy! Dad went into the hospital for 4 days with pneumonia then I spent a week with him. I got home Tuesday after his water heater started to spew water all over the place. DH got the professional there and today it is back running again. We went to make sure DD's wedding reception venue is on track and we have a full house with the Bride's Maids and families at the lake. Good thing I had my dress and had made my purse before Dad got sick but I did have to get my shoes. DH and I have retreated to the house until Saturday evening when the wedding will be over. fingers crossed my dad can go, at least my cousin flew out for the wedding and will stay with him so I can "relax". Final count down and my list is made.

Oh Piney, I know it will be a beautiful wedding. Try to relax & enjoy the festivities. You've made sure that your daughter will shine on her special day. I'll say a prayer for your dad to be able to see his grandaughter get married.

What is it with dads and granddaughter's weddings??? My dad just had foot surgery and will be in a wheelchair for our wedding on Aug. 4th. At least he will be able to attend, even if for just a short time.

Piney, when is your DD's wedding? I hope you are having decent weather for the big day. I can't imagine being in a gown or tux with the heat wave we're having around here.

My Dad was supposed to go in for surgery the week before my DD's wedding. He made the Dr. postpone it so he could be there. That is the last wedding he made it to :( he passed away 5 months later.
Piney I hope your Dad makes it to the wedding & a lot more. I had a special place in my heart for my Grandpa. I am glad he got to see me married.

We're up on the coast visiting DS and SO, it has turned cool and cloudy but no rain so far which is good as we are on the boot. Back home tomorrow and back to work Monday, sigh.
