I guess everyone is busy catching up on work after the holidays. I'm still on break from classes, but I'm trying to get back to work as well. I think I'm going to have to start going into the office if I want to get any work done over the next week and a half before school starts -- I'm having a little trouble getting into a "work" mindset at home.

On the sewing front, I have some fabric waiting to be made up into a t-shirt. This will be my first time with a Kwik Sew pattern! I still have to trace the pattern and cut out the fabric -- cutting out with these stretchy jerseys always takes me *forever.* But once that's done, I think it will be pretty quick. :)

I, too, would love to see a couple pictures of your projects, Mary! Post some when you have the chance. :D

I haven't done a lot of sewing but I try to sneak in a few seams when I can. Hubby and I are still ripping and tearing out the old stuff in our farmhouse. Quite uninhabitable at the moment. My husband and I run a plumbing business, and we do some real estate on the side so we are working hard. I was sooooooooo exhausted thru the holidays. Hopefully we will be moving sometime this summer.

On the sewing front, I made some lingerie for a women's shelter, and made myself a few things. Nothing sensational. Dorothy, that silk lining sounds yummy. I didn't commit to the SWAP this year. It is just so hard to focus with everything else going on. However, our local sewing guild put out a blouse challenge I am going to try. We sew up Kwik Sew 3200 each with our own creative ideas. It's fun to see how each one is so different. That is due in May. Not much of a challenge but it's the best I can do for now. If I can, I want to do a couple of different styles.

Since my diabetes diagnosis a year ago now, and my 39 pound weight loss, I have been busy sewing new tees and other tops to wear.. I re-made some of my favorites , but that is no fun.. (its hard work).. I had to give away all my clothes.. I put my winter jacket on the other day (it was really cold) and even though its red, it looked awful just hanging off my shoulders like that.. Now I have to make a new jacket.. I have copied this one before from fleece.. I think I will try that.. I have some leopard print fleece I've been saving for me.. Pants are so hard for me to fit on myself I've just been buying them.. I think part of that is vanity.. I can buy a lot smaller size now.. LOL..

We had major upheaval the past year Mary, moved house, Tony went part time for his science job and part time for his Pastor of a church role, Katie graduated with a First class Honours degree, I passed my Higher Level Teaching Assistant course (which means I am now allowed to teach on my own), Tonys Dad had a heart attack before Christmas but is recovering well, my nephew( ex foster son) was arrested and jailed , Tony's bother has been moved to an open prison and is going for a home visit at the end of the month( excellent news) we have redecorated 2 rooms in the house, I have knitted and sewn as usual, I am preaching on Sunday and have the school inspectors in on Tuesday and Wednesday when I am running an after school club - so - nothing new there then!

Hi Mary,
Good to see you on the boards. This summer I had 2 life threatening scares when my kidneys failed and my heart shut down but I'm doing okay right now. Since July 2006, I have lost close to 80 pounds and am working on a new wardrobe albeit slowly. This Christmas was better as I was not confined to bed but had no energy for decorations and such. DH cooked Christmas dinner with DD's help. My little girl is now a young woman and is a freshman in college majoring in International Studies with a minor in Legal Studies. She moved away from home last May when she took a summer job as a counselor at a summer camp and was home only a week before starting college. Her university is about 100 miles away. She was home 3 weeks for Christmas break. It was good to see her. She has taken her sewing machine back to school with her plus helped herself to some of my stash. DH is doing okay. He turns 65 in April and is investigating medicare and all of that stuff. Since he's still employed full-time and has health insurance thru his employer, I don't know how that works out. I was just elected president of my sewing guild and will start teaching classes at the end of the month. Life is good ...

Hi everyone!
Sorry I have fallen off the face of the earth like this. This year is crucial for me work wise and incredibly time- and energy-consuming. I simply can't keep with all the boards and websites I used to visit. Just can't. Either that, or I wouldn't have any more time to sew.
(when I mean year, I mean academic vs. calendar year)

Happy New Year everyone. :) Happy Sewing!
