Mid August quilting

You are amazing, Laura. If I get any one of those jobs done I consider it a good day. I'm a tortoise in that respect. Looks like I'll be painting this weekend too. Our new bathroom will be ready for it and the older, smaller bathroom is due again. I used an almost flat paint and that was a big mistake in a bathroom.

This is the quilt I just finished for my co-worker who was married the day after my DD. I machine quilted using my new favorite tool, a walking foot. I stitched the border using the blanket stitch on my machine and should have just done it by hand as a lot of it didn't get caught on the back and I had to hand tack it anyhow.

Good job on the quilt, Pam. I always sew the binding for charity quilts and my baby quilts down by machine. But when I do that, I sew to the back first then fold over to the front and sew down either with a blanket stitch or just by using a straight stitch. But you can use any fancy stitch...as long as it isn't too dense of a stitch. Here are a few good videos which show how it is done. And I have learned a bit from each of these and do my own method. Hope this helps. And practising by making few placemats and sewing the binding on by machine has helped me get the method down.

Judy, I've used Pat Sloan's method and love the way it turns out. Especially on baby quilts. It's fun to try different decorative stitches on the binding.

Forgot to mention that I actually worked on a quilt today!!! Just haven't had any quilting mojo lately but finally got back into the sewing room and started quilting a charity. I doesn't need to be done until mid Sept when our VQC group starts back. Normally I'm working at the last minute to get them finished before going to the meeting. Maybe I'll actually have it done in advance for a change...

Glad you got your quilting MOJO going again. I just looked at the pat sloan link and the margaurita link for quilt binding and That looks do-able. I might give it a try one day some time.
