July quilting

Well here is another charity quilt...but I did not make all the blocks. Someone donated 19 blocks to VQC but only 15 blocks were matching but missing the last round of light fabric. They are made with 1.5" strips...so the blocks finished at 12". I went looking in my stash for something that would coordinate with the other lights in the blocks...which I couldn't find...and ended up buying a half metre of a white with brown design. Then I finished sewing up the blocks and added a border from a left over piece that I did have in my stash. Now the top's ready to be taken to the meeting in Sept where it will be pinned and brought back to be quilted later.

Edited: OMG...I just noticed after posting this pic that the block in the top left has one round sewn incorrectly. It never hit me until I saw this pic. Now I'm gonna have to see what I can do to fix it...

That isn't an easy fix either Judy! If it really bothers you, could you applique a flower design from the border fabric over that square? Or do you have a coordinating fabric that you could cut out a few flowers and applique them strategically on the quilt top, with one covering the turned center? You could also just leave it, as the Amish quilts always had an error in them purposely placed.

Hmmmm, let's see. This is what I'd think if I were an expert quilter like our friend, Judy, who usually does such incredible work.

Since it's a charity quilt someone will receive it from some organization. They'll look at it and say, "Oh my! It's gorgeous but this is why I got this. It's not perfect and the person who made it was too lazy to fix it." That's why I'd fix it and I'm guessing Judy will/ or has already.

Or am I just pulling this bit of speculation out of thin air, Judy?

Lennie, my thoughts exactly...so I will try to fix it. Decided to work on something else yesterday and ponder a bit on how I would fix it. And had a dentist app't today so didn't get back at it. Below is a closeup of the block that needs to be fixed. I think I should be able to take out the inner square section that is wrong and just turn it around then sew it back in. Will probably be doing some partial seam unsewing and sewing me thinks...
