Have new glasses so am back at my machines and doing hand work. Taking apart a black skirt is very challenging with my aging eyes. However, I am slowly working on it after I added a name to a vinyl backpack. Also, have a few baby gowns to complete before starting new ones. In my serger club, we will be making a table runner pieced by serger using a pack of 5 fat quarters. Instructions are from Nancy's Notions. Members will complete the table runner at home as we will be cutting out the blocks and piecing them together. Looking forward to this class.

You have hit the ground sewing this month.
I finally got started on my chanel jacket yesterday. Got to thread trace the grain lines and relevant marking today then will cut the pieces out and serge the edges. Lots of hand sewing to follow stab,ising the front and neck sdges toying with using iron on bridal tape to speed the process.
Hoping DH wants to disappear into his garden today then I can sew

DD coming over for morning tea bringing her two dogs to play with ours. One hers is a 10 week puppy got to encourage lots of socialization.

Bought what I needed yesterday to make Abby's Halloween costume. She wants to be Everest from Paw Patrol. I had to
google her to see what I was in for. A simple beanie and zippered sleeveless vest is all. I had to buy some fur trim and luckily I had the zipper in my stash and the yellow trim that is on the beanie and vest. Should be easy to do but I don't want to put it off much longer.

Finished 4 baby gowns on Thursday and Friday cut out 4 more and getting ready to sew them today and tomorrow. I have 8 totes already sewn and have 20 each burp cloths and washcloths ready to serge. A local hospital broke a record for births in July (over 300) so I imagine the hospital will be requesting a larger number of kits than usual to replace what they handed last month.

Glad to hear you are back sewing Marty. I have a hard time working with black fabric also. I save working on them til we have a bright sunny day. Hope your DH goes into his garden today Skye so you can sew your jacket.

A quick embroidery project this morning. A friend asked me before I went into the hospital to embroider her niece's name on the child's backpack. I had to wait until I had my new glasses and my hands quit shaking before I could do this. I was so happy for it to turn out so well.

Making zippered buntings for winter wear for babies and I'm using invisible zippers as I have in the past. For some reason I'm having a hard time pressing the teeth flat-do I really need to do that since I have a metal invisible zipper presser foot?
Thanks for any input. I've looked and couldn't find anything about it so far.
Hope everyone is staying cool this summer, especially if you live in the areas that are experiencing higher temps than normal. The temp and humidity here was unbearable and the power kept going off. The heat and humidity has been higher than normal most of the summer but yesterday was the first time the power kept cutting off/on.

Trying to get Abby's Halloween vest made yesterday. Had to alter the pattern so cut out a muslin. Wasn't feeling my best yesterday and knew I shouldn't try to sew but did anyways. I stitched the shoulders and one side of a separating zipper and had to stop. When I tried to stitch the second side of the zip I discovered I had switched the fronts so that the center front was at the sides. Oh, well, I didn't even try to remove the shoulder stitching. I just left it as it was and will try to pick it up again today. I went back to knitting toys for babies.

Did another quick embroidery project for a staff member at church ... embroidered a name on a baby quilt. It was my first time embroidering on a quilt. Turned out nice but I didn't get any pics of it. After 3 days, got the waistband off of the black skirt and decided instead of ripping out the center seams, it would be easier to just cut them since I have to take a minimum of 2 inches off of each side before stitching back together. I will just reduce the sides of the waistband when I get ready to sew it back on. I still have to remove the zipper and of course stitch it back on after the excess fabric is removed. Have to have it finished by Sunday. Completed 5 baby gowns and they were blessed at our Sunday services with prayer shawls. Have 4 more gowns with detail work to finish. Plan to finish them this evening. That will give me about 16 to go to the hospital this week with crocheted baby blankets. Keeping busy and planning my new sewing ministry schedule that starts in 2 weeks. Will post more about that later.
