2009 Stash Challenge - pre-challenge discussion

New postby kaitlinnegan on Tue Oct 27, 2009 8:19 pm

Anyone up for a stash challenge? I know it's coming up quickly, but how is a start date of November 1? It would run November 1 through New Year's Eve.

I've been gazing at these fabrics from New York and San Francisco and thinking that I need a bit of a motivator to turn these fabulous fabrics into fabulous clothes! Who's in? :eh:

More details to come on rules and all of that. :)

I'm in! Although I haven't bought nearly as much fabric this past year, I still have way, way too much! The stash challenge really helped me move a lot more stuff last year.

I'm in!
I will try to finish what I have started before then so I can start new projects. I need to get a lot of crafts done since there are 2 craft shows coming up. 1 at DS's GF's work the first week of Dec. She just takes everything in & they sell it & keep 10%. I need to individually price every item for that one with removable tags. I think I will use safety pins since I have a ton of those. The other is Dec. 12th & that one I will actually be selling with my DD & sister. I figure anything I use from stash is pure profit since it is clearing space & some of it has been paid for years ago. I do still price my items as if the fabric is at today's prices though

When I get done with that I need to do Christmas sewing!

Maybe I can join in at the end. Packers should be coming next week to take most of my stuff to Nebraska. I'm gonna keep the bare minimum here to live on until this house sells or the house up there is ready for us. I'll be a cheer leader until I get reunited with my sewing stuff.

I think I'm interested but I'll wait to find out more (and to see if Laura's playing--------she scares me! ;) ) Haven't had much time for personal sewing for a while but hopefully will in the near future. I've never participated in a stash challenge.

I thought the challenge was to sew up as much of your stash without buying new. The yardage is what counts, not what you sew.

Overall yardage will be counted. I'm a bit busy right now, so I haven't worked out the rules just yet, but it will be similar to last year if you want to take a look: Last year's Stash Challenge Rules.

There will be one significant twist - photos will be required of the completed projects for all yardage that is counted.

Like last year, the winner will get a special trophy to display by their avatar. There will also be some special categories for winners in addition to overall yardage. Stay tuned for more details. :D

With the small amount of sewing I do I'll get no where - but what the heck I have a load of stuff I ought to get round to doing - and I like the photo idea. Count me as last already but I'll play.
