I made this yesterday, but I forgot to post it, so I understand that it won't be part of the totals. But I made a hippy skirt for a party, and opened up dh's jeans and put in a piece to make bell bottoms. They were a hit!

I've decided my goal for 2/1/09-5/30/09 is at least 50 yds. of stash plus at least 2 to 1 on purched fabric. So if I but 1 yd I need to uses 2 additional from stash. anyone want to join me with a personal stash challenge? No tallys will be kept here since they are personal challenges you keep your own tally.

I think my tiddly amount just goes to show how much I have been sewing recently - still I have some cushion covers to make for Rosies new house that will all be stash! She was showing me some vintage fabric on ebay and I pulled out some cabbage rose prints I had and she went mental! Sold to the Psycharitrist in pink!

That was a fun couple of months! I knew I had a fair stash in my sewing room, as I have been collecting it for ages. But to sew up that amount does seem a little bit unbelievable. I was telling the girls at my local fabric store, and their jaws dropped. It probably didn't help that I was buying another 40 yards of material at the time. It opened my eyes as to how much material I go through for presents for people and clothes, because I probably sewed up the same yardage again in new material as well.
It got my butt into gear as well, as hopefully today I will finish a quilt that I started last week, and finish the pinning and quilting of one that's been in my basket for about a year.

The personal challenge sounds like a good idea Barb. I need to keep myself motivated now that I am back in the swing of sewing again. I thought I might alos start keeping a more comprehensive sewing journal, and add a small photo of each item I make, and the yardage used. All I keep in my journal at the moment is a to-do list, and any scribbles on working something out, or line drawings for a bag or quilt I have seen that I want to make.

Thanks for the motivation everyone.
Happiness is finally having a sewing room! Soph

I got my first UFO for my new challenge finished last night. I finished a pair of fleece pants that I cut out before Christmas for myself just to keep me warm. 47 yds & 1 UFO to go.

Barb, define Stash. I am sewing but I bet most of the fabrics have been purchased since October.

Stash is anything you have already purchased before you start. Most of mine is at least 1 year old & some of it 10-15 yrs & maybe even older.
