2010 Stash Challenge Yardage and Discussion

New postby Pudge99 on Thu Oct 21, 2010 12:42 pm

So, you've checked out the rules and are ready to play? You can begin Sunday (Oct. 24)! Here's what to do:

If you want to just talk about your plans and progress, simply reply to this thread.

If you want to post yardage, reply to this thread and replace the subject line (Re: 2010 Stash Challenge...) with your yardage, rounded to the nearest 1/4 yard. Include a description of your project and at least one photo. If you prefer, you can post pictures and a description in the appropriate "Completed Projects" forum and post a link to that post here.

If you are listing yardage for both garments and other items, please list the yardage separately - for example:
Garment: X yards, Other: Y yards
(X and Y being the individual yardage for each item or set of items)

It would also be fun if you shared the fabric's original intended purpose, if you can remember.
I am still working on how I will tally the yardages. I'll have something worked out by next week.

Gather up your supplies and get ready to SEW in the New Year!

So I should wait until Sunday to sew more! I plan on cutting out rice packs, casserole carriers, & baked potato bags tonight.
The weekend is pretty full so I won't be sewing much until Monday at least.

Awesome! I won't be able to do any sewing until next week anyhow. I am almost done the bags, so they won't cut into my sewing time!!!

Well, Duh! I just finished sewing the binding on a project, that could have waited until tomorrow and I could have counted it as a UFO! Pooh!

I am always ready to join in, but my yardage is pitiful compared to others!

Still have time to go shopping, Jan!

I want to concentrate on fleece. I've got it piled on 4 shelves that I'd rather use for other stuff. I'm so tired of it and don't know what to do with it. But if I finish edges and donate blankets would that count? Kinda cheating, isn't it?

I used a lot of mine in place of batting in Casserole carriers. It works great as batting!

Okay, just went back and "really" read the rules. So no, my finishing fleece edges doesn't count. "Significant sewing must occur." Also the fleece and fabrics used as interfacings and battings do not count it says. Barb, thanks for that reminder. I forgot that fleece makes good batting. I will say that I don't "bat" much though. I will use it as such but not to count toward the challenge.

Haven't got a clue as to what I'm going to start with (or finish up for that matter.) Got a costume and some hemming to finish first.
