My 16 year old repainted her room and needed a quilt top for her XL twin bed. She has entered the "I want my room to be sophisticated" teenage stage (but from the piles of clothes and wet towels on the floor - actual sophistication is still a few years off).
The design was simple, the jelly roll colors perfect for her new color scheme - or not!
I detailed in my blog http://destashification.com/2012/06/24/as-ye-sew-so-shall-ye-rip/on the making of the quilt how when that "it's just not right" feeling hits (and all of us that sew or knit know that feeling), we try to convince ourselves that the problem will fade or improve as we continue to work - and it never does!
I should just change the stitch length to 4 stitches per inch when that feeling hits - because sooner or later, all those seams will be coming out!
So this quilt was remade a few times. But the end result was worth it!.
Leftover pieces of the jelly roll and the other fabrics will be used to create another stripe for the binding - after my long arm quilter works her magic!
