Jumping screen

New postby kjh9835 on Sat Nov 21, 2009 7:37 am

I was wondering if anyone else has this issue when typing a long post or reply.

When I get partially thru the post, the screen starts jumping and my post won't stay in one place where I can read it. I have to type it out then go back to correct any typos or change the wording. I'm not sure why it does this since I don't have the problem on any other boards so I must be doing something wrong or maybe I need to change settings somewhere?

Could it be that I just "talk" too much?????

That seems to be it. No kidding. I get it every time my post gets real long. It is rather annoying, isn't it?

One solution is to type the reply in word, or notepad, or something similar and then do a cut/paste into the reply screen.

Yep...I get it too when I type a long post. I usually do what Ruby suggested, type it in another program and cut and paste into the reply window. And it is annoying...

My posts aren't usually that long, so I tried writing a really long one - no problem for me. It is unlikely this would be a problem with the forum itself - the "nuts and bolts" of the forum is not designed by us but is the phpBB forum software, which is very widely used so you would probably have the same problem with other forums if it were a problem with that.

This could likely be a problem with your web browser - make sure you are updated to the most current version of Firefox or Internet Explorer (I am using Firefox). If you are using a laptop, perhaps you are hitting something on your touch pad?

FYI - I'm using IE 8 and have the latest updates. And it happens as soon as the length of your post extends past the size of the textbox displayed. It seems that the program automatically displays the top section of the post. Guess they want us to keep it short...but sometimes when you are explaining a echnique it is difficult to fit what you are saying inside the displayed box...LOL

I have never had the problem, but when I am typing a long post, I move the bar on the side down with my mouse as i get close to the bottom. I do not do like I do in the e-mail sector and let the length of my letter move the spacer down. Maybe that is the difference. Now I am just guessing at that..

Nope, that doesn't help. I scroll all of the way to the bottom of the screen, and to the bottom of the email part, when it gets too long it jumpas back to the top of the message. I also have all of the latest updates on my computer and I am using IE8, I am also using VISTA, so this may be a vista problem.

I'm using Vista.......I haven't come across any problems or rather, things that I've recognized as a problem. Works fine for me.
