Instead of Sewing

This is what has been occupying my time away from the sewing machine and quilt frame.

I have to buy screws to attach the seats to the chairs and move it all to DD's new apartment tomorrow. Then I can FINALLY get back to the quilts for DGS's.

Very pretty!!! I'm a big fan of dark wood. I have a Duncan Phyfe dining room set circa 1930's in dark walnut. All of the chairs have needlepoint covers from the previous owner that are too pretty to change.

This set was free, also in very bad condition. My dad re-glued the chair supports and cut new seats from 3/4" plywood. The table & chairs had dark stain over what I think is cherry wood. If I could have sanded the carved legs down to bare wood, I would have just used clear polyurethane on it. The table top was really pretty but there was too much ornamentation to sand. I broke part of my sander and had to have dad fix that then I broke the electric staple gun while working on the chairs and had to finish with the manual one. I think I'll be bruised tomorrow. :( I also think I'm getting another kind of sander before I refinish my table and chairs.

Ooooo, a woman of talents! I'm impressed. That will be very nice when it's completed.

Here are pictures of the furniture in place in DD's apartment.

For someone who didn't want this furniture, I think she's very pleased with the way it turned out. She doesn't have my vision to see a finished product.
