hallween costumes 2017

for halloween 2017 my granddaughters were to be tweedle dee and tweedle dum from alice in wonderland.. and the youngest was to be a cat--specifically-- her cat.
for the dee and dum costumes-- i just made tulle skirts out of red tulle---layers and layers til i got the fullness i wanted then i sewed on a solid red velveteen skirt over the tulle...there is a lining under the tulle to give some fullness but also so the tulle would not be scratchy against them. I also made the collar out of stiff felt and the blue is wired ribbon.. my daughter got the rest of the costume and did the make-up...i had made the skirts longer than normal bc my daughter cut and frayed it to make them look like zombie tweedle dee and tweedle dum. for the cat costume--i did the same --layers of tulle to create fullness and then black velveteen over the tulle.. ears and tail were store bought.
