Our church's outreach mission committee was asked to partner with another church in providing Christmas gifts for 20 children thru the Southeast Memphis Cooperative Parish. To get the names of the children to the church's membership, I stitched angels and placed them on a small Christmas tree in our Hospitality Hall. It took all night of stitching to get this done. The embroidery design is by Martha Pullen from her 2011 IEC collection. It is a simple free standing lace angel. Here are the photos. It was a fun project.

I'd love to make some of those pretty angles. I may make some handkerchief angles. I do them like the little confederate war era dolls that Mammies made for little girls to take to church because they were quiet (nothing to go bump because they are all cloth) and kept the child occupied. Easy and can be done in waiting room and on supper breaks at work. I had lots of them for the tree at one time but have gradually given them away as impromptu gifts. I sure know I don't need to be eating.....have gained a lot of weight this year. I need to feel the crafters satisfaction in the simple art forms exercised. Great project Marty!!!!!!!!!!
