Woodworking-computer center

I did this today, it needs sanded and stained. Started about 11am getting supplies then out to the house to use the saw, back to town to get the drill and back to the house. Got everything cut out and some stuff loaded in the truck, drove home, unloaded, did some more on the denim rag quilt, assembled the computer center and had pizza for supper. I'm going to bed early. Sanding and staining tomorrow.

Made from one sheet of plywood (same website that I did the toy boxes from one sheet). I did splurge and get the good blondewood that is smooth on both sides instead of just one but still made it for less than I could have bought one of those laminate/particleboard ones from Sauder or ???

That looks very nice, Kathy. I bet if you cut out pieces from the centers of what are now the two solid sides of the base, you could even make a matching bench or chair from that single sheet!

Miss Fleecy, that is what the pattern calls for but I didn't need the small bench as I have a rolling chair so I just left them solid. I may/may not run a length of cork down the right side for a bulletin board. I also need a bar across the back of the actual desk part to keep stuff from falling behind it. I have a big piece left so I'll cut it from that next time I'm at out at the house.

Its far from perfect but solid and useable, not too big, not to little. Its supposed to be 6" taller too but I cut from the wrong end after I'd already cut once. That's what you get for looking at the diagram upside down!!!

The girls are impressed too, "is there anything you can't do"...umm, cook and they didn't even have to ask that question.

I think over the past few months as I've done more and more, they've realized you do not have to have a man to do things for you but it is nice when you do and you should let them know how much you appreciate it.

I've taught them how to check fluids in cars, jump start, check air pressure, change air filters, change tires, change wiper blades, build with wood things like toy boxes and computer centers, decorate cakes, quilt, sew and/or repair clothing, hook up a washer, dryer and automatic ice maker, change a faucet, lay vinyl flooring, caulk windows and I don't know what else all in the last year. None of the job could be considered "professional" but I can do them if/when I have to.
