Quilt Kit Dilema - Help, Please!

New postby temom on Mon Sep 05, 2011 4:56 pm

Today dd's violin teacher encouraged me to start a quilt. I have several quilt kits that I bought on clearance for very little money. (They make great gifts). I choose the smallest one I had, and it is this pattern: http://www.kathieskreations.com/catalog/149/
The kit (purchased elsewhere) apparently is for the 18" square. I can't even figure out which fabric is which!

Here is the materials list:
Quilters Quarter - Fall Background Print
3/8 yard - Brown Print
Scraps or Fat 1/8th - Orange Marble
Scraps or Fat 1/8th - Gold Print
Backing and Batting

Here is what I have in the kit:
18 X 22 Blue Floral
9 X 21 3/4 Leopard
9 1/4 X 22 Red print
14 3/4 X 44 Blue
Backing (Muslin) and Batting

I think the 44 inch blue corresponds to the brown, since the cutting directions call for (2) 2 1/4 X WOF for binding.

What would the others be? Would the Quilters Quarter be the 18 X 22 piece?
Please help me, as I would really like to make something other than shorts for dd!

Quilters Quarter is like fat quarter.. that is 18 X 22
the ones that are 9 ins. are the fat eighths.
The 3/8 yd is the only one that is 44 wide.
I cannot see the rest of your thread, so I cannot remember which color is which..
Good luck on your project..

So that means that
quilters quarter is the blue floral
3/8 yd is the blue
the leopard and the red are your fat 1/8ths.

That's kind of annoying when you buy a kit and the fabrics aren't as written on the directions. But good luck with it.

Thank You, Libby and Laura! I was quite confused, and didn't want to randomly cut.
