Local Quilt show in Ajax, ON

Happy Monday sweet ladies of the bee ;) I enjoyed my first quilting show on the weekend. The Rouge Valley Guild held a two day show at the Rec.Centre. Many quilts large and small, vendors of all things quilty, treats and music. I was blown away with the variety, skill and a new appreciation for 'HQ'. I was inspired by the many quilts with hand embroidered appliques. I didn't realize there were so many heirloom stitches. Up next for me is a snowman wall hanging for DD in St.Louis and I will definitely be trying out some old, but new to me, embroidery stitches. I even won a door prize just by paying my $5.00 admission - anyone familiar with Thangles? I am loving this new adventure :applause: Take good care, you continue to inspire my dreams.

Glad you had such a great time Ann! I am finding the quilt shows fascinating, and expensive cause I buy so much stuff!! The quality of work is unbelievable in some of the quilts, I don't think I'll ever be one to enter into a show, but I do love seeing what people can do. I have heard of Thangles, you'll have to show us what you create with them.

Glad you enjoyed the show. Last Friday, I missed a couple of shows which were held at churches here in Ottawa cause my car decided to balk on me and ended up in the garage. But it was probably better that I did, since I didn't spend it on quilting stuff, but my car. I really get inspired when I see the shows...but come home and feel overwhelmed as I still have stuff to finish and don't let myself start anything new...except for the VQC quilts of course.

Thangles are a wonderful thing! If you use half-square triangles in anything, Thangles are the way to do it. There are so many possibilities with them!

Love the quilt shows but oh the temptations  I came away with two kits which are in progress hopefully finished in time for Christmas. Thangle kit is in the wings for a lap quilt for the family room. Again, I came away very inspired by folks I know in our town, a couple from Chancel Guild at church many moons ago. We are in Waterloo on Saturday where I hope to take a photo of Caleb's 'John Deere' curtain that I can use for the stash challenge. New challenge though to get the photo from a file in my computer to the forum now that I have been upgraded to Windows 7. Take care.
