10 goered skirt

I lost my thread on the pear shaped friend and her skirt. I have finaly cut it out after a 6 goer prototype and a quarterscale 10 goer prototype, a slim skirt sloper and my 10 goer skirt that was a prototype for this one to fit her. My fabric was a bit shy of enough needed but I took care of that. I have cut out 10 goers and 10 godets, one at a time and will use the scraps from it to use in my next skirt. it took a while but it was fun. The fabric has a nap so each piece had to be in the same dirrection and on grain. I hope to be able to post some photos soon. ( My camera is malfunctioning.)

Good luck with it! It sounds like it's going to be really cute. Good thing you noticed the one way fabric, I've gotten a project cut out part way then realized it had a one way pattern and that is frustrating. Course it's a 'learning' thing!

I have begun sewing the skirt but discovered my suade fabric needed a microtrx needle to prevent puckers. DH stopped at Hancock's and bought thread and needles. (This skirt for a girl that DH was in the 4th grade with). I am a bit dissapointed because the godets don't give the hem the same sort of flip that cutting on the same amount of fabric onto each skirt panel. Guess I'll have to add fishing line to the hem of this skirt like the last one.

Does anyone have any suggestions on pressing the seams of a godet to cause the skirt to flare and the godets not to colapse in as in a pleat. My friend really wants a sort of sassy flippy hem and this one isn't looking like it will do it. I will do the light fishing line in the hem but it will probably still colapse? The fabric is butter soft to the touch and very flowy.

The godets will be flippy as she walks since the fabric is soft enough. The two godeted skirts I've made hung straight till I went a'walkin'.

Darn.she liked the one I made myself with the cut on godets. Nice sassy hem. I just couldn't get it cut that way in 4x out of the fabric I had on hand., cut with nap layout. My nail polish is dry. Back to sewing.

My friend walks with a cane due to bad knees and back. There wont be a lot of swishing of the skirt.

The only thing I can think of is a circle piece cut to fit the skirt bottom and that's a totally different pattern style

SM, faux micro-suede is not drapey enough for a flippy skirt. A softer fabric like challis would make a better flippy skirt. I'm afraid with the choice of fabric, it's going to be next to impossible to achieve the look that you want. Sorry, but I haven't been on the computer much this past week due to other obligations.

Skirt is finished and ready to deliver. It turned out lovely.. the fishing line in the hem gave it a little sass.
